Even though it's not much, a forum full of car enthusiasts has a better chance of having good advice than the average worker at Kragen or Autozone. Even better is if you go to the knowledgeable boards, like bobistheoilguy, to get your info.

To the OP, I find that in general, Amazon has good prices on Purolator PureOnes, which are the ones I throw on my car, if she's willing to wait for the shipping. They come in pairs (shipped individually though), and you can just stock up to get free shipping.

I do ask this forum, for advice on plenty of other things besides cars. I would rather have people experienced with parts that they enjoy, or events, or stores/restaurants with some real feedback. I guess yelp would be the next best bet, but for car parts I find that car enthusiasts are a lot more mature when debating brands for cars.

Car enthusiasts enjoy taking care of their cars and usually not trashing them around. So recommendations from people on certain issues is wayy better than the average joe @ Kragen/Autozone.

Get least expensive filter and oil. Skip the synthetic, too good for that civic ex - unless she takes that car to track?
