Craigslist Imprezas...
I completely agree. There are points where hatchbacks or wagons are no longer adequate. However, I still don't see why it is not a viable option for a single kid household (may be even 2). Yes, I don't have kids, but I have chauffeured my share of family/friends/volunteer ones to not be completely oblivious
At the end of the day, people can drive whatever their please as long as their finances support it. Probably should have elaborated a little more from the start

An example is my sister. She has two kids and owns a retardo-massive SUV. She also does a lot of stuff with school and kids groups on weekends, and has a 100-lb brown lab. Sometimes she will have 7 kids, a beefcake of a dog, and everyone has their bat bags and crap. The car is usually driven by her husband, who has a two mile commute. She daily drives a small, four-cylinder sedan. She had finished dropping off all the kids and crap and stopped at Safeway with her daughter in the way home. Some dude gave her a load of crap for her carbon footprint and having such a huge car for no reason. He probably "couldn't have imagined" what she needed such a big car for. She doesn't really "need" it, but a whole lot of people would have to help out and be involved if she had a smaller car. A minivan would honestly work in a lot of situations, but, the 4WD has been really handy on camping trips and Tahoe and stuff like that.
I drove my nieces and nephews around a lot years ago and during that time, I made a post on here berating another user for needing a huge SUV for their teeny kid. He probably could have gotten by with a Legacy, and I probably could have minded my own business.
