Copart License? I need someone who can bid for me...

Anyone? I'll happily pay someone a couple hundred dollars if they allow me to bid on an item. I can supply the 10% deposit required in case I don't follow through (which I will of course).

PM me if you like! Thank you!

what's that?

Rat 01-09-2011 06:47 PM

Copart is a Salvage auction yard. You need a license to bid there... I used to have one.

Copart is wonderland of totaled automobiles. I've seen 2 F360's, a Ford GT, and plenty of other goodies there. :)

i was just checking out their website and saw some killer deals...

'05 DB9 w/ 24k mi @ $38,000
'08 750Li w/ 37k mi @ $12,100
'06 Z06 (hood looked a little messed up tho) w/ 8k mi @ $23,200

Tons of good stuff on there but remember... you need to be really careful when buying cars from there. If at all possible go and look at it. Also, when they say run and drive they mean the motor was able to start (that guarantees the motor worked at that time) and it was able to move 5 ft forward and back (I think). By the time the auction happens who knows if it will start, run or move. They move most of their cars/trucks/bikes/etc on giant forklifts and often bend suspension or other bits underneath too.

Caveat Emptor.

but yeah, you can get some killer deals there.

Most of the stuff gets bid up hard during the actual auction. I was trying to see if I could find a legacy wagon on there for real cheap but almost all of them were selling for 1500-2000+ and I can get the same price on craigslist.

Almost forgot the ****tiest part is the fees at the end of the auction. I believe its 15% of the sale + some absurd gate fee. I paid ~$700 on a $3800 auction.

Ill ask the guy I use OP.

Funny that this comes up now. I just got back from LA where I flew down to look at a car. It was a good thing I went and looked at it. The cosmetic/body stuff I could deal with but when the engine did start it didn't sound to good and it had a low coolant level message. So I let it idle for just a few minutes and the gauge just kept going up and up. Then when I looked under the car I saw where the lower control arm mount on the frame was cracked off. The control arm wasn't cracked, the frame was cracked. And the killer thing is that this car is going to be sold with a clear title and nothing shows up on Carfax either. So buyer be ware. I'm not saying they are all like this, but you need to be careful.

^ exactly!

Bunny.girl 10-03-2012 03:38 AM

I don't like brokers.:(
Can anyone hook me up with someone in the bay area that could bid for me at copart??

Just tell me your price and lets do it!

My friend just lost his license, he's renewing though. He buys cars with minor body damage, fixes them, and sells them for a couple grand profit. Not a bad deal if your good at body work.

Some cars have a reserve. I've seen 04 Sti's go for like $6000-8000 in excellent condition though.
