CG-Lock?

I'm looking at getting one of these, but wondered if anyone has tried it.

http://www.cg-lock.com/index.html

Even better would be if anyone has one that I could borrow. I have a track day coming up 4/29. I would rent it from you for like $5 or something. I'd love to try it before shelling out $40.

Thanks

Just tighten your belt, twist the end, and then latch it in. Same effect.

I've read mixed reviews on it from people who have done track days w/ them. Seems like the only benefit it offers over simply locking your stock belt w/ the actuator is that the shoulder section moves freely w/ the CG-lock. Some have mentioned issues when you get in an accident however I don't see how the seatbelt could not just be cut or the clip released (tension maybe).

Your best bet is to try one out whether that means spending less than a tank of gas to own one or borrowing one.

Nearly - the CG-lock only locks the lap belt - the shoulder belt still allows free movement. If you tighten/twist you lock the shoulder belt too (sliding your seat forward 1 click once latched if possible holds this quite well). This is better or worse depending on your POV. I would actually prefer the shoulder to be locked as my favorite setup is a cage and a 5pt harness. My old track car didn't have a harness and I couldn't put one on as I didn't have a rollcage (much more dangerous w/ out a cage) and I was always sliding around... My friend's car w/ cage and harness was awesome - your driving position never changes. Seems like locking your belt (w/out the CG-lock) is the closest way to achieve this w/out a harness and cage.

I'd still like to try one out I guess. My seats have HUGE bolsters so maybe the lap is all I need.

1) Sit
2) Latch seatbelt
3) Pull up on shouldstrap so lap gets tight.
4) unlatch belt.
5) twist belt buckle twice
6) relatch belt.

Another way is to put your seat farther back than usual (doesn't work for me all the time as mine has to be all the way back, but when on the track sometimes it's nice to be 1 click closer) and connect the seatbelt. Then, snug up the lap belt as mcowger mentions, then quickly yank or snap the shoulder belt so the ratchet catch locks it tight, while holding it scoot your seat 1 click forward. Sounds janky, but this will hold you locked in place till you release tension. Never tried the twisty method - it may work better for all I know.

I just ordered a CG Lock. If it doesn't work, then I guess I'm stuck with a hunk of metal or I could try to sell it. I'll probably end up with a harness one of these days anyways.

I've had mine for almost 3 years and use it for auto-x and daily driving. It helps but locking the shoulder belt would help better, IMO.

I have a CG Lock. I like it. It provides little to no upper support but locking you into the seat helps with a bit of the lateral G's during hard cornering. You don't feel like you are totally haning on for dear life. Long drives it's nice, keeps you from sliding in your seat. The rpice it right, it functions pretty well.
