The asteroid hitting Earth story reminded me about the LHC! This thing was supposed to fire up in Spring '09 (quickly approaching) but it looks as if they've pushed the restart date back to September of this year as they "add additional safety features."

Just checking, I know someone who is that paranoid. They actually believe its going to destroy the world...to the point they have protested and done letter writing campaigns trying to get it shut down for good.

I was reading an article somewhere that quotes some of the LHC physicists saying that they believe that "the future" was tampering with it. Seriously. I'll try to find it.
