can anyone help me get off a stripped lugnut?

Yeah, so I stripped a locking lug nut (you know, one of those funky patterns) on one of my wheels trying to get it off. I've got Rota Subzeros so there's room to get around the nut with some pliers or something. Anybody have any ideas? I don't think I have the tools to do it.

Wackie.....you are having ISSUES!!!!!
I feel for you man, I know what it's like to try and get something done....and keep running into problems.

Ask Andy (BADWRX) he's good at getting off tight bolts and almost striped bolts...so might be able to help:)

This could be very convenient. Andy is going to come pick up the hood he is buying from me some time....

I might be with him.....

to take the hood from him...but don't let him know...OK ;)

i had the same problem.
they aren't the kyokugen lugs are they? that's what happened to me and a whole group of people. at least you know your wheels won't get stolen.

anyway, if you get as desparate as me just take your car to america's tire co and have them break the locks off. it only takes about 5 minutes and they only chaged me $3 cause i bought my dunlops there.

good luck

It would work a little better if my car was driveable right now. :/

fanker 01-09-2003 02:55 PM

whoa sorry i didn't know that your car wasn't driveable :(

Dremel it!

Use a Dremel to cut a slot in the top then try to unscrew it, you'll need a Dremel and a Kung-Fu grip to get some leverage in there.

wackie 01-09-2003 03:42 PM

Hmm......... I've been meaning to buy a dremel. "Kung Fu" grip? Do I need to give Jet Li a call or something? ;)

badxmaru 01-28-2003 10:36 AM

have you tried going a step down in the imperial to get a better grip on it?
i stripped off down an axle hub nut on my crx then i stripped it down further before getting it off with liquid wrench and my impact wrench
if you wanna come over and try to impact it, give me a holler.

Super easy. Just get a smaller size socket and take a BFH and hammer the socket onto the lug. Replace with new lug, and dont torque to 200ft/lbs next time. ;)
