Just curious. I mean...personally, I think it's stupid to crack down on bikes in areas like S.F. where traffic is rediculous and parking is even worse. Noise is the last of their worries.....least it should be. Maybe start on solving some of the violent crimes problems in the city.

I would think they'd WANT more people on bikes in the city to decrease the traffic issues but then again....less cars trying to park means its harder to regulate parking and they loose money on parking tickets and parking lot revenue. The city JACKS people on that. It's one of the main ways they are trying to get revenue right now. Jacking up ticket prices. Writing more tickets. Letting parking lots charge whatever the hell they want. $26 to park for a day? WTF?

that's me though.

I'm not talking crtap about bikers, but when the MotoGP was in town I most of the near accidents I saw would have been caused by the biker doing something stupid, such as cutting off a big truck and taking an exit after the solid left line had split (know what I mean? after the exit has technically already passed).

Of course, I have also seen the stupid idiot try to move over without seeing (or looking for) the motorcycle and almost hitting it. However, I have also had people do that to me in my car...so why cant I have a loud pipe for the same safety reason?

I wouldnt have a problem with bikers if they didnt drive so wrecklessly and unpredictable. With a car infront of you, the majority of the time you can predict what they are going to do (through their slow movements). With bikers however they tend to dart around and put the burden on the car drivers to watch out for the bikers safety,

i actually got pulled over friday night for having the tilted front plate.
and for having a plastic covering on my rear plate which i bought a walmart.
i was like WTF in my head! I would understand getting pulled over for my front plate, but for the rear?

(for the rear) Its actually those plastic lic plate cover you can buy anywhere! The ones that covers the whole thing. The cop (SHE) said the cover was curved and its not allowed.

Come on, bust WALMART then!

I doubt he would forward that email and of course give out an IP address. come on now.
This is not an unreasonable request. I'd just like to see the X-Originating-IP and Received: fields but the recipient's email address won't be necessary, in order to protect his identity. And the complete, unedited text body of the email, of course.

The amount of work involved for imout's friend would be minimal. This isn't like divulging a narcotics bust or a joint departmental raid on a weapons cache in the possession of some paroled gang members.

If someone makes the claim, "California state-wide moded (sp?) car bust August 24th" and cross posts to three different regional i-Club forums (BAIC, SoCal, SRIC), I don't think that asking for some minimal amount of substantiation is asking for much.

agreed. it is frustration. They have laws on bikes like they do cars and trucks for exhaust note....they just don't enforce it. If it's american they let it go. I NEVER hear of harleys getting popped but I have heard of some crotchrockets getting it. So I do have frustration there.

I guess my deal is I really don't care if a car or truck has loud pipes. Just don't rev in my driveway at 4am and it's all good.

[end]

ooh and on topic.

I think this is bullpucky. none of the cops I know knew a damn thing about what I was talking about......and they would tell me to hide the car for the day if they did.

Yea Hurray for the SFPD, a full detailed account is in another thread i just posted. I was in total disbelief that this guy was acctually giving me a ticket for a stock exhaust because it was too big.....
