Bring-A-Trailer '99 2.5RS Coupe

Has anyone else been following this? This car represents more or less "the top of the top" in this segment as it pretty much nails every important part of a used car, while being a "perfect" 2.5RS Coupe. It's a single-owner, low miles, bone stock, damage-free 2.5RS coupe in Rally Blue Pearl.

Current bid is $11k, and it ends this afternoon - I believe around 1:15 or just before.

31K-Mile 1999 Subaru 2.5RS Coupe | Bring a Trailer

I think it's interesting and I will like to see where it ends up. Having owned a few of these cars, I have some opinions. Also, I understand that this is not "normal" and cars like my own RS will not be claiming values like this. Pretty exciting to see Subarus reaching this trend.

I am following it. I am amazed how little rust it has being a NE car.

Really makes me hopeful when I get ready to sell mine.

Feels like the right time to move on from it. I know, sounds crazy, but, yeah, it will be happening late this summer.

Agreed - my '02 is from Connecticut and I replace all bolts and any hardware when doing work on it. It's not terrible, but was worse than that RS for sure.

It makes me wonder how much I can get for my stock (5 speed) RS with 35k miles. I'm the original owner, too.

Won't be a GTR mate. Thinking RWD. Maybe the engine will be behind my head this time as well.

Yeah, makes me happy that I am in the bay area and have been pretty safe from such rust.

If it is clean like that one in the link, I think $10k easy, maybe more around here. Or have it somewhere where it can get a lot of national attention, like Bring A Trailer or Ebay.

I had guessed 13k-15k, so I was right in there on that guess. Never know with these things though. Sometimes someone is just REALLY willing to pay.

But something within' me wants to learn a different car and not mod it too much. Something my wife will like, and I can share with her. This is something that feels profound to me, and maybe it's me getting older, but it really feels profound.

Yeah me too, but it was well within the projected range. I was only surprised because this one seems pretty much like the top of the top. The only thing possible that it could have had "better" would have been zero rust and no funny business with the engine.

I believe that if we would have seen a "normal" 2.5RS come through there first, before this prize, this one would have gone for more. It will be very interesting to see what happens with the next one.

Here's another one just posted today - WARX-Swapped 1998 2.5RS Coupe

For all those folks wondering what a swapped RS coupe is worth today, this could give a hint. Should be interesting to watch!

From a distance, the car looks amazing - just about my favorite look for an RS. Getting a little closer, it looks like it has some issues, but probably not far off from most cars. Probably the biggest concern is the stock RS 5spd.

From the comments...

My friend had a car almost identical to this one but a 4 door. The rs tranny will hold up just fine and has shorter gearing than the wrx one for a little more get up and go.
