Thumbs up Bad News/ Good News Turbo

Well the bad news is after a fun 116k my stock turbo is going out. It still boosts but its not sounding too good when it goes into boost. Makes a fast ticking noise. Subaru of S.Cruz confirmed that it is the turbo.

The good news is its time to upgrade. I just ordered the VF34 turbo kit (fuel injectors and pump) last night.

Cant wait to feel the difference.

And yes I have an AP and I am stage 2 right now. So when its all installed I will flash the VF34 map.

kinda high mileage, be careful with the upgrade and tuning.

A custom stage 2 was in the works until my turbo issue. So now I am taking advantage of the situation. So the "off the shelf" map will due just fine for now.

I also plan on having Subaru do a compression and leak down test to see where I stand engine wise prior to the turbo install.

Ive never missed an oil change and Im ontop of all scheduled maint. And its never been driven too hard (most of the time) I have no fluid leaks anywhere and no odd engine noises. I feel the engine is doing very well for its mileage.

Gruppe-S can do that compression and leak down test for you I believe. If you're in the Hayward area, give them a call. I know this much because of the FLi experience I read about. Man, what a ****ty ordeal.
