I've never seen any of the 04-07 stuff come with a sticker (but I've only sold/installed a few of those). I know for a fact all the 08+ comes with a sticker.

I was just going off what several people on Nasioc had sold theirs with. I just got off the phone with AEM and they sent me the form but since I have an 07 STi I still wouldn't qualify for the sticker.

Thank for the help Noah!

So it looks like from this the 06 STi gets the sticker but the 07 STi one doesn't. Should I just buy the 06 and put it on my 07? I can't see how they would really be different from each other..

It might work perfectly for your 07 sti . However, if the document do not list 07 sti as a legal application, then it is not carb legal. And you can still get into trouble for it

02-05 WRX intakes: 2005 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX 2.0L H4 F/I - All, AEM Cold Air Intake System
04-07 WRX/STi intakes: 2007 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI 2.5L H4 F/I - All, AEM Cold Air Intake System
08+ intakes: 2011 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI 2.5L H4 F/I - All, AEM Cold Air Intake System

if you dont see it saying YES, its not legal and doesnt come with a CARB sticker

*our site lists all this info as well

The aem link shows the 08+ intake is not street legal an 09 wrx but isn't it the exact same intake (same part number)? So if I bought the 08 intake for my 09, then I'd still get the carb sticker right?

The carb exemption should be just as good as the sticker. This worked for my 02:

yes you will get the sticker but its NOT technically legal on your car. Its year/make/model dependent and needs to be "approved" through CARB for each year/make/model. Even though its same intake doesn't make it legal

its lame but its how it is

That's just the way CA screws us.

Both intakes will pass smog no problem. But the one with a sticker is legal and the one without a stick isn't.

Stupid.

yeah its really not a big issue I'm sure as most smog people won't be researching what is or isn't legal, as long as you have the sticker. Bit if you got a ticket from a cop and tried to claim in court its legal on your 09 WRX or STi...it would be a tough sell when CARB clearly shows that its not legal and only legal on a 08 WRX/STi (currenlty).

it is what it is...they will get them approved over time.

we have included these lists under our intakes so the customer can decide if they wish to take the risk.

I'm sure the probability of anything going to court or the scenario above isnt likely but its the only worst case scenario i can think of at moment.

Thank your elected officials for the BS laws and have none of them make sense

*FYI- on a side note, firearms work the same way in California (its called a drop test and every make/model need to be on the "approved" list for it to be allowed to be sold in the state)...talk about a bunch of crap
