49ers thanksgiving day... streaming online??

I'm hosting Thanksgiving day at my place and my family is a niner family... but I don't have cable. I researched that its gonna be on the NFL channel and over the air CBS. I don't want to buy cable and not sure if I can get a good enough antennae installed in time. Anyone know of good streaming options? :sign0085:

p2p4u.net is what i use but it can be laggy at times. i used it to watch the jets game last night and most ufc fights.

For OTA CBS, I don't think you need that great of an antenna. I used to use bunny ears and got a good picture (granted I had to re-adjust for each channel).

Funny enough the HD local channels OTA look a lot better to me than Comcast's HD that I pay for. :(

that's because comcast has to compress the signal like crazy to fit all those HD channels in their bandwidth.

i cant remember how much.

but OTA signals are normally around 20 gigs. for each sub channel, it takes about 1/8 of the space. KPIX only has one, so that is very good, compared to KQED (local PBS) which has like what, 5-6 subchannels at nite.

edit: just googled. i saw that comcast compresses around 4 to 1. so while HD signals looks "good" on mainly stills images, as soon as you get fast moving images, that's when artifacts starts creeping in...

to the OP, goto walmart/target/etc, buy a cheap INDOOR antenna for like $30. your location says concord, so you might just have a great shot at looking at mt sutro, where almost all local stations in the bay area beams their signals from...

I got my antenna from either best buy or fry's. It's an RCA amplified indoor bunny ear.
This thread tempts me to dump cable for OTA again.

Thats what I was originally thinking a few months ago. I tried an indoor one from Frys ($80) and it SUCKED. Picked up 2 fuzzy stations in espanol  Turns out I'm in a fringe area and all the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) are all 25-30 miles away. According to antennaweb I need a blue/violet uhf/vhf capable antenna. Not horribly expensive, around $75-$150 but they're big and need to be mounted on the roof. Don't think I'll be able to order one and have it delivered and installed on the roof before thanksgiving. Probably just have to pony up and order basic cable for a month to appease the family. I'm just afraid we'll get sucked in...

try this: move the antenna as high as possible.

when i originally used my indoor pie plate and rabbit ears, it was downstairs and i continually had to keep adjusting it to get a good signal. then i moved the antenna upstairs and it was like night and day.
