Remote hood and trunk release would lead me to believe you can open the hood or trunk someone other than standing at the hood or trunk, like sitting in the drivers seat. Remote means somewhere other than that location, it doesn't necessarily push button release from outside of the car.

exactly correct. Remote doesn't mean wireless, it just means from a location other the point where the action is happening. In this case, from the lever next to the driver seat and the lever on the dash.

ah I see, thanks for clearing that up, I just don't see why that would even need to be listed. but I guess you do what you can to sell your car huh.

I have always understood remote hood and trunk release (as well as remote gas cap) to mean what Subaru has intended.

You'd be surprised at how many cars do not have trunk levers next to the driver's seat. When I was working at America's Tire Co. I found out just how many there really were, considering the only time we opened trunks were to put spare tires away. It was about a year ago, but iirc, it seemed that a lot of the lower end american cars don't come with any, and BMW has their easy trunk pop by pushing the keyhole in or having a latch next to the license plate.
