06 WRX flashing cruise control but NO CEL

Have any of you BAIC folks seen this and better yet fixed it?

I zeroed the OL/CL table to zero in the 3 table cells of the stock downloaded map and ran fine for about a month. The car is 100% stock.
My friend(the owner) had recently taken his car to the stealership to have a squeaky clutch pedal fixed which I guess require dash removal.
Since then, randomly the cruise control light will start flashing but there is NO CEL!
The car doesn't feel any different, but have not data logged to verify boost when it happens. The cruise control does not function during the period the car is running with the flashing CC light. Turn off the car for an hour and back on, the cruise control LED is no longer flashing and works as expected.

I also tried forcing a CEL by loosening the gas cap and driving around. This did in fact trigger a CEL so I know the engine diagnostics are functioning properly.

I've since flashed the stock ROM back and am waiting to see if the cruise control flashing without a CEL happens.

wouldn't that indicate an issue with the CC system?

I believe that is the case but am not certain. turning the car off for a bit(say an hour), then starting it up again makes the blinking disappear. The car will throw CELs (gas cap test) so I know the diagnostic system is working.

When not in a blinking state the cruise control works fine.

tighten your gas cap

evap leak somewhere

thanks. jackass.

and where did you come up with this?

I<3subie 08-23-2008 12:04 AM

details on the car? year n model? What os program did you use? Was there a ecu reflash done at the dealer?

the thread title says 06 WRX. Flashing cruise control but NO Check Engine Light.

EcuFlash was used to download the ROM, Green cables connected, tactrix OpenPort 1.3U cable used.
RomRaider was used for the editing, then ecuflash again to test write, then write.

Initially the only change made was zero'ing the OL/CL table. the flashing cruise control came on but my friend thought nothing of it until after I copied the tables fromGabeDude's R30 WRX map to a copy of his stock map. Flashed it, then I saw it while borrowing his car( we work together and carpooled ).

You cant copy tables for another car. Cars are differant.

I'd reflash back to stock, Let me know what the ecu your using. Maybe I can help you.

did you forget to unplug the two green connectors? haha

can you elaborate on that? There is this "copy table" menu option for each table when editing a ROM. it's also mentioned in numerous posts on romraider, xpttuning, and openecu forums that instead of flashing other's base maps that you should copy the tables from the posted ROM and paste in to a copy of your stock ROM tables.
i'm aware that the ECUs used in 02-03(16-bit) are different from 04-05(16-bit), and 06(32-bit), and 07(32-bit) WRX models.

stock map has already been flashed back and waiting to see if the problem comes back.

hahahaha! no. i'm not that retarded.

I<3subie 08-23-2008 10:03 PM

Ah you cant just copy tables. Cars run differant, turbos spool differant, Its really bad to do that,

Give me a ring we can chat some about it

I'm not a pro like Moike(GST) or Ed(EQ), but I know a little bit.
I know enough that I can look at difference between the stock values in a table and the ones in Gabe's base map to know its not going to blow **** up.

I am well aware that a GT35 turbo will not spool the same as a vf34 or a TD04, and that 550cc injectors flow less fuel than 800cc injectors, and that changing exhaust parts and removing catalytic converters will change the spool characteristics of the turbo enough to require alteration to target boost, fuel, timing and turbo dynamics and probably a few more tables than that.

now, if you can tell me what might have caused the flashing cruise control please post here.

Seriously, an evap code will get thrown for a loose gas cap. Pressure needs to build in your tank. If the pressure isn't where it needs to be, you get a code. This happens to me when my wife fills up. I just tighten the cap and the code eventually goes away. I'm not being a jackass.
