using stock WRX turbo for RS-T?
im planning on building a turbo system for my RS, and i was thinking of using a stock WRX turbo. im only planning on running about 5psi though, and i know the WRX's run 13psi+ from the factory, so i guess my question is are the turbos (or more specifically the wastegate) capable of producing only 5psi? or am i just going to get boost creep because the wastegate cant dump enough exhaust?

from what i have heard, the stock blocks can hold 8. however for longevity reasons i wouldnt pass 6. actually on rallitek they sell a turbo kit that will push 6psi and give 212whp. i am thinking about using the wrx turbo on a set up of my own. i only want 4psi tho. gotta get a boost controller.

my concern is if the wrx turbo can go as low as 4psi. im pretty sure there will be boost creep. the boost controller has nothing to do with it. it has to do with the capability of the internal wastegate.
maybe i don't completely follow what you guys are trying to do, but there are companies that make complete kits for rs's. i'm assuming you know there is a lot more to making a rs turbo other than putting the parts on. you are going to have to do some wiring and if you are just going to try to build a setup from scratch you are going to be hating life. i just finishing putting avo's turbo kit on my 99 rs and it was a little involved plus i had to wire in a piggyback ecm. my suggestion would be try to find an existing kit. it will make your life a lot easier
From my understanding you can't lower the boost bellow the wastegate's spring's rating with a boost controller. In other words, the boost controller can only raise the boost pressure. To decrease the boost pressure when using the stock wrx turbo and internal wastegate, im guessing you would have to find a way to replace the spring inside the internal wastegate..... is that possible?
i think the turbo shud work with 4/5 psi... not sure how well the effeciency wud be doin... or how much boost creep u wud get
