possible for 300whp on 91 octane?

i am looking for a turbo that will do 300 wheelp hp on 91 octane with a properly tuned ems. ive been reading and it doesnt seem possible unless i use race gas. i am doing a full engine internal build, except for the crank & cam. im leaving the displacment 2.0 L but everything else will be replaced. i think maybe the mitsu 20g or power enterprise trubo could do it. any help is appreciated. thanks

20g or pe 1820 would be a good turbo. vf 22 with headers will get you in the 270-285 range of horsepower. It all depends where you get dynoed and what dyno too.

pe1820 supposedly works well on 91 gas.

WRX 2.0L

K&N Short Ram
Header - Back Exhaust
Deadbolt 18g
Walbro Pump
Hyperflow TMIC
2006 WRX 560cc Injectors
AccessPort

Produced 290whp on 93 octane at 18psi.

Could have easily crested over 300 if there were bigger injectors. The injectors are close to 100% duty cycle. Take this setup, add 800cc injectors and swap in a front mount and voila...300+ and it didn't require touching not one internal. Granted it was tuned on 93 instead of 91 but I don't imagine that you will be talking a whole lot of difference. If you add in an alky kit you will definitely see some nice gains.

Just my .02...

Thanks,
Jackie

I think it needs to be a 765cc + injector to push the 300 mark with the mods I listed. This car was tuned by RiftsWRX aka Jorge Carillo and that was his recommendation. If you use an AccessPort (not sure about others) you can make a fuel saver map in case you need to do quite a bit of driving.

I am in Annapolis MD and we are right around that price. A fuel saver map for long trips or your half asleep ride to work would be a great way to have fun when you need to and save money when you don't.

I am running 400whp on 91 octane with a GT30R, so yeah it's possible.

Dan at Harman. I also ran the 1/4 once and i ran a 12.1 @ 114 and i missed 4th gear REALLY bad, i had to push the clutch back in, put into gear, then wait for the turbo to spool again, it basically felt like i coasted for almost a second. My 8th mile was 7.7 @ 89, i used to run it at 85 with stage 2, so it shows how bad i missed 4th. If i drove perfect i think my car is capable of a ~11.8 @ ~118 on pump.

Had to take this chance to brag about octane levels over here! Reg. unleaded is 95 octane, super is 98 octane and....... you could get Premuim unleaded at 100 octane! :) Cost of gas now is $1.25, $1.38 and $1.60 not too bad.

Annapolis Subaru 07-31-2006 05:29 AM

Haha...that is an understatement. We are paying more than twice that price for 91 or 93.

A friend of mine bought a 79 mini cooper and when he got it here from Europe he was just putting regular gas in it. He wondered for the longest time why it was not getting the top speed or performance that the guy had said that it would. Finally he put some premium fuel in it and the problem was fixed. He forgot that other countries have higher octane fuel.
