do i need a fuel controller?
i have the following mods on my 03 wrx:
VF34 turbo turbo XS UTEC BLITZ electronic boost controller i been playing with the blitz and it feels so well the easy way to tune my boost in just a few clicks.. but i get the suggestion to also install a fuel controller.. should i get it?.. i hear not really good things with it on a wrx |
i would say no. get the map switching system for the utec.
but if u have to get a fuel controller the new blitz one looks sick and its fun to play with. ive also heard good things aboug the safc2 |

Your UTEC is a piggyback fuel controller. It controls fuel when you're above (whatever your parameters are set to) ~25% load (when in the open-loop fuel setting in the parameters.)
You already paid $xxx.xx for the utec, but aren't using 1/3 of it since you have the ebc. If you were to get an SAFC or something to that nature, you'd only be using the UTEC to control timing. The UTEC has it's limits but in my opinion, it's a very, very powerful tool to get quite a lot out of your car; especially since you have a pretty common st4. Essentially, it's a great tool for the novice tuner in that you don't have to fuss around with the idle and a lot of the mundane ECU functions, since the UTEC mainly takes over when you're going balls to the wall. |
tks i fully agree with u.. thats why i post this question ... somebody with more ack than me second my thoughs hehe..
now i need to find someone that can help me out to tune my utec. |
take it to one of the local shops and get it tuned properly ona dyno if you have the money. If you don't have a wideband or egt and a laptop you can't really tune it yourself. No need to buy the fuel controller as you already have one in the utec.
