DeadBolt Warranty Rebuild. Was it honored?

Hey there guys. I have what I call beyond a dilemna. This is midlife crisis kinda stuff here going on about 18 years too early.

Heres the scoop:

Sent an SZ49 back to DB to have a non clipped wheel installed
Receive a PM saying that the turbo needs $846.99 in repairs.
DB says the turbo needs basically all new internals, and needs the housing to be honed.

The turbo has about 2k miles on it. Never made weird noise, never smoked, never lost boost. I simply returned it becuase I wanted quicker spool from a non clipped wheel.

Deadbolt says its "Installation error and that oil starvation caused this damage." Tell me how it can be improper installation. I primed the turbo with oil, installed the feed line, return line, and hooked up the piping again. Tell me is there something I missed? I think not. Wouldnt the motor have oil starvation problems....most noteably the cylinder head?

So now I have a 6 month old/2k miles $1400 turbo sitting at his shop where he either approves/disapproves the "free lifetime rebuilds" saying he needs another $846 in his pocket to fix it.

Has ANYONE had similiar problems? Please tell me if your rebuild warranty has been approved/disapproved. Or if you have had problems with their turbos.

I would PM him back and tell him to honor his "lifetime rebuild claim" or you are going to send out the same story to every single Suby/Aftermarket Tuning forum you can think of. You already talked me out of never buying a turbo from DB!

Dont listen to this guy, he already said he didn't properly prime the turbo on nasioc. If you don't install it the right way than you pay the price in the end. The owner in good faith offered to repair this turbo for 300$, even after this guy said bad things about his company on this site and nasioc. Just remember this guy faulted in his own words on the install. Should the company pay for his mistakes. I don't think so.
