Question Changing of new turbo - Which is better

Hi all,

I'm having a 2005 wrx with Sti tmic, TD04, walboro fuel pump, apexi boost controller, sard fuel rails, HKS open pod and HKS exhaust. I have a sets of sti injectors standby when it comes to tunning. I'm thinking of changing my stock turbo to a bigger turbo which can spool faster and can reach a max of 350-450hps after tunning.

Heard alot on VF34 but what about other turbo eg vf 39 etc. Please enlighten me. More comments pls.

350-450 hp...at the wheels? 100 hp difference is quite a bit, and I am pretty sure that the vf-34 wouldn't hit those numbers..someone correct me if I am wrong though.

20g if you're shooting for around 350whp...or your choice of fp green or gt30r for around the 400s.

the vf39 takes a lot to max out at around 350whp...that means a very aggressive tune and running meth.

Cool

Thanx for the inputs, appreciate it.

So does that mean, I can go for a VF39 and tune it real hard to 300- 350whp.?

Well thats for whp, what about spool up. Which will be a better spool up - 34 or 39?

What abt the 18G or 20G turbo? Anyone have experienced it before ?

Comments please...

34-39 Almost the same in basic terms. So either will give the same results.

If you can push a 39 and a 2.0 to 350 whp, you will need more than that, meth and the like.

The 18 and 20 are your best bet to get the 350 whp you are looking for. But the 18 will struggle more to do it.

Stock Turbo 360 CFM at 14.7 PSI
18G 600 CFM at 14.7 PSI
20G 650 CFM at 14.7 PSI
