best turbo???

hello. i just picked up a '99 legacy gt wagon. 5-speed with leather. i'm happy, but i need to put a turbo on this car. who offers turbos for this 2.5?
any help would be greatly appreciated. i've had a few big h.p. turbo cars in the past, but i know nothing about subaru tuners. THANKS!!!

There's not a whole lot of bolt-on kits available. Depending on where you're located, there are a decent number of shops doing EJ20 swaps, but they're not cheap. Especially with your DOHC, you're going to blow up headgaskets that much quicker; how mnay miles does your car have on it? Headgasket failures are a fact of life on the DOHC EJ25s that came in the 2nd-gen Legacies like yours......

fresh rebuild

the car has 70K on it. the head gasket blew @ 65K and was replaced. some idiot replaced it with the wrong head gasket and it blew again 5K later. this time subaru did the work and put in a fresh short block. the enine now has 500 miles on it, and i'm breaking it in gingerly.
if nobody makes a turbo kit, what do you suggest for more power besides the basic bolt ons? who makes the best parts?
should i just start to look for a used wrx motor? will that swap even work?
thanks!

You an still get a turbo kit. Go to www.spomotorsports.com for the AVO EJ25 kit. It's not very upgradeable, but it's going to make some power for not a lot of money.

Forced Air Technologies (forcedairtech.com) makes turbo kits for the EJ engines. It is a complete kit including a new high flow cat and downpipe that they claim makes 60-80hp on an otherwise stock engine. It is also more that $1000 cheaper than the AVO kit but I've not seen actual numbers on either so it may be worth the $$ for the latter...this is the kit I plan to buy for mine once I've got the time and money to invest in such a project- I really want to be the one to install my own kit just for the bragging rights, etc...good luck.

What do you want to do with the car. "Best Turbo" all depends on what you want.

Best price?
Best all around value?
Most HP top end
Best spool up and low end?
Drag racing?
Auto-X?
Durability?
How much money you willing to invest?

Can't have them all so you have to start out on what you will use it for.

AVO kit would be my last choice due to how limited it is for the price, but that is just me.
