Thumbs down The What can i do on my drive to Arizona thread

Well I am leaving tomorrow bright and early, to do an 11 hour drive with my dad to my old apartment in arizona to get the rest of my stuff outa my apartment so i can move into my new one....

What do you guys do on long trips to keep yourself entertained and make this 11 hour drive not so much from hell, I will be doing this drive with my dad so it shouldn't be as bad as about the 8 times ive done this drive by myself now.

What sucks is all my car magazines and stuff are in my apartment in arizona so i can't bring them to read on the way down lol. And I can only sing 99 bottles of bear on the wall so many times before my dad just kills me(which after an 11 hour car drive, dieing doesnt seem like that bad of an option).

Share some of your words of wisdome(or lack there of for some of you).

Ouch, shotgun on road trips sucks way more than driving on road trips. For starters, ask to split the driving time so you're at least partially occupied half the time. Second, bring as much of your music as you can, hopefully you can find something that your dad will tolerate enough to allow you to listen to something that doesn't annoy the hell out of you. Lastly, if you don't get carsick, go buy a paperback or two. That helps a lot to kill time.

Which part of AZ are you from?

Having a portable DVD player doesn't hurt if you're the passenger. You can also play stupid games like the alphabet game where you find words in alphabetical order to get to Z first, and U-HAUL (u hit anyone u like). Although that last game is either fun or horrible depending on who you're with and how hard they can hit.

I drove from my GF's house in Tucson to Sac in about 14 hours including two stops for breakfast and to visit her nephew and niece in San Bernardino.

Well clearly road head is out of the question so now you're going to have to get inventive. Depending on your dad's personality you could mess with women passing by, shot slingshots at road signs, invent games to play or sleep.

Long road trips are like plane travel, except that you can ask the captain to pull over anywhere along the way without being removed from the airplane by the FBI when you reach your final destination.

Essential items:

1) booze in trunk to be consumed at rest stops, only. You don't want your dad to be popped by CHP.

2) very large bag of crunchy Cheetos (not the nasty puffs, which are made from orange caterpillars).

What not to bring:

1) CD soundtrack from first "Toy Story" movie. "You've Got A Friend In Me" was the first song my nephew learned how to sing. It was cute... for the first couple of dozen times.
