Pros: Excellent wet and dry grip, very good value, looks good
Cons: Makes some noise at all speeds

Kumho Ecsta MX provides excellent wet and dry grip. Not designed or intended for use in snow, so don\'t even try it. Where I live there is a lot of rain in the winter but no snow, so I drive them all year long.

Sticky near-R compound tire that wears well under everyday driving with the occasional detours into aggressive driving. Wears quickly (as it should) under demanding conditions. The driver determines the tire wear: MXs can be ground off in one morning or stretched out for 30K miles.

The MX performance and tread pattern is similar to that of the legendary (and pricey) Bridgestone Potenza S-03. Compared to the stock RE 92s, the 225/45/ZR17 Ecsta MX have hugely improved dry traction and are better in the rain, cutting standing water reasonably well. MXs will not squeal in hard cornering and give plenty of feedback (sounds and feels like a low rumble) when starting to break away.

MXs are a natural match for the WRX. I drive a \'03 WRX Sedan and use 225/45/ZR17. After one year of use I have 20K miles on them and they look good for another 10K. MXs like air pressure. A comparatively lightweight tire, good air pressure reduces sidewall flex, providing a stiff ride without compromising traction or tire wear. After experimenting, I settled on 38-40 PSI on fronts and 35-38 PSI on the backs, depending on season/outside temperature.

Proven soft compound, big block design performance tire will make some noise, as will all tires of this performance level. Excellent cornering, good wet traction, excellent dry traction. Best bang for the buck in performance tires.

Pros: great traction and grip, very solid feel in corners
Cons: pretty loud

I have these mounted on a set of 18x7.5 Tarmac IIs in 225/40/18. Huge improvement over the stock RE92s. Car no longer floats at higher speeds, feels very very solid on hard turns. Have yet to try them in and wet or frozen roads, as the weather has been very nice lately. As far as dry conditions go, these tires are awesome.

Pros: Excellent traction, good feedback in turns
Cons: A little on the noisy side

I'm about halfway through the tread on my MX's, and I've loved every mile along the way. Sure, there is some noise, but you can always turn up the stereo or put your foot in. Soon as these babies are worn out, I'm getting another set.
