RA gearset put into my wrx today, along with a new clutch and flywheel. so far it has definitly been one of the best mods have done. At least im not afraid of shearing all the teeth off of one of my gears. but the longer first gear and shorter 2nd, 3rd and 4th is definitly better than stock. and 5th gear is actually usefull now. the car is definitly more fun to drive and uses the power a whole lot better. also. The new gearset dosn't have that stupid first gear block. If you are seriously thinking about getting a new tranny, you should keep your tranny mounts and get this set up.

This was not a planned upgrade, but I\'m so glad I did it.
I would recommend this mod for anyone who needs to rebuild their transmission, or replace it. The closer ration on 2-4th gear makes the car a lot more responsive. Yes, it requires a bit more shifting if you\'re maniacal about being in the power band during your daily drive, but I love it.
I find myself staying in 3rd gear to a much higher RPM for daily driving, and 5th gear is almost solely for highway cruising. 4th gives power in a much more usable place.

I would\'ve rated this a 10, but I believe that place is reserved for the 6 speed.
I just had this installed a week ago along with a clutch and flywheel by Gruppe-s and I love it! First gear is a lot more usable and the rest of the gears are evenly spaced so you get the use out of them in the powerband. It does require a little more shifting around town over stock, because it\'s closer ratio, but if you don\'t like shifting, you shouldn\'t have bought a manual! 5th gear is geared lower than stock, (at 3000rpm I\'m only doin 63mph), but you can order the Special Edition RA gears which retain your 4th and 5th gear for highway cruising. I chose the standard RA\'s simply because I wanted them to \'match\' alittle more. Strangely enough, I\'m actually getting the best gas mileage I\'ve ever gotten on this car. Maybe the lightened clutch has something to do with it??? Probably not, I think I\'ve just learned to drive it easier and appreciate my tranny alittle more after shelling out 4 grand (I blew my front diff on top of shearing my teeth in 2nd gear).
Overall, I\'d recommend this product, great upgrade, nice and quiet (I had heard they were noisier), good investment!

I bought off a fellow I-clubber, a Version 6 R/A transmission, with a 4.44 final drive and differential. Straight cut gears and all !
The transmission is so much stronger than the stock WRX transmission, but the gears rev so high, I believe I am going about 80 on the freeway, at 4400 RPM. I mentioned gas mileage, just because for me, I drive hard, so since I am always in the power band, I always use it, which is my fault.
I got lucky enough to have a unit with DCCD and it is a lot of fun to play with it set to \"open\" and just go nutty. Great product, might have thought more about saving the cash and getting the 6 speed.
