Pros: very sensative, programable, voltage meter, brightness control, color options
Cons: it doesn't do my taxes.

this is by far worth EVERY CENT. it picks up radar better than any of the other detectors i've had. i've owned three other models previously and the 8500 blows them out of the water in performance AND features. i have mine hardwired into my ignition with the remote mute button/warning led mounted just to the left of my steering column. the detector is attatched to the windshield just above the rearview mirror and ALL wires are out of sight. installation took me about one hour due to the custom mounting of the remote. the only thing i would add to this product is laser jamming capabilities.

Pros: Best Detector (IMAO)
Cons: does not have directional arrow

Highly suggest purchasing one of these eiher used or new (the X-50 is the newer version). I own the 8500 and couldn't be happier. Very simple to use and very user friendly.

The only thing that this lacks is the directional arrows that are on the Valentine One. Based on which review website you go to, these two are back and forth. I have used both and I find that the Passport is more sensitive that the V1. However, I do like the security of knowing where a signal is coming from.

In the end it is up to the user to decide what functions they feel are needed. Either way you will not be unsatisfied with a Passport. I recommend one to anyone who wants exceptional radar coverage.

Pros: picks up from quite a distance and tells you what band
Cons: none

It picks up tons of different radar bands and tells you how strong the signal is. I picked up a speed trap 2 miles away ( i was going 60mph for 2 minutes) until i finally found the popos. I wouldn't ever drive with out it, great investment.
