Description: This is a dealer to avoid. After making contact with them on the Internet and E-Mailing back and forth for a week with the salesman, I scheduled a Saturday appointment with him to come down and test drive the STi. I made it clear that I was a serious buyer and was not just kicking tires. The salesman said that they didn't usually let people drive the STi's but that I could drive it when I came in.

On Saturday, we arrived at the dealer and looked at the two STi's they had in stock. I spent about 1/2 hour inside and out of the car checking out everything about it. When it finally came time to drive it, I asked the salesman about it and he said he'd "have to go get approval". Ok...I thought, he should have already done this, but alright. He was gone for about 10 mins and finally came back saying that his boss wanted me to actually write up a sales order before they'd let me drive it. At this point, I told Jeremy that I was not about to do this and that if he was going to renig on his promise to let me drive it, then I'd shop elsewhere and we started to leave. Then...he changed his tune quite a bit and went and got the keys for it.

When we left the dealership, he drove it off the lot. We pulled off into a business park and he nailed it, pushing it a tad harder than I thought was prudent on cold tires, but oh well. He pulled over a few mins later and we switched places. I wasn't about to push it THAT hard because even though I was interested to find out what it would do, the car only had 10 miles on it and someone would eventually end up buying it. I pushed it a bit, but nowhere near what the salesman did. It was impressive however and confirmed that I did want the car.

The salesman and I set down and started going over "the numbers" which to be honest, weren't all that impressive. He started out by telling me that they were getting "full retail" on this car. Yeah right. Whatever. In the midst of all this, he kept getting (and taking) phone calls from several different people. After about the 3rd or 4th interuption, I was starting to get irrated and decided to switch gears a bit and go drive the standard WRX to make a comparison. After getting the key and giving it to me, he said he needed to go across the street to the sister Honda dealership and take care of something over there and that I should wait for him because he had to go with me on the test ride. Ok...no big deal. My wife and I started up the WRX and sat in it for a while and then got out and walked around it for a while. Still no salesman. Finally after about 25 mins, I headed back inside to give them back the key so I could leave and was met by another saleslady who asked if she could help. I explained the situation and she said she'd go on the test ride with me. We said ok and headed out on the test drive. It was about what I expected and only served to confirm that what I really wanted was the STi. When I got back to the dealership, I had already made up my mind that I wasn't really interested in their numbers and wasn't crazy about my salesman either.

We started to leave, but finally...here came the salesman. Of course, he wanted to talk a bunch more but I had already made up my mind at this point that I really didn't want to deal with them. He proceeded to "shoot the $hit" for about 15 more mins trying to get back on my good side, but I just wanted to leave at this point.

Eventually, we finally left and I went and did the deal the following week (for a MUCH better price) with another dealership. Much less BS and much less running around. The dealership I bought from, my salesman brought out the manager and I dealt directly with him. No running back in the office to talk to some other higher up. That crap wastes my time and just makes me mad.

Anyway, to sum it all up, I think I'd avoid Ed Voyles from now on. I had been in there once before to their Hyundai branch and wasn't impressed with it either. They're a traditional, standard car dealer tricks kind of place that love to give you the run around and will say or do anything to get you in the dealership. I've done this too many times to keep playing the same old games and that's exactly what they want to do.
