It has saved me multiple times, so it has payed for itself over and over in ticket price and in raised or even dropped insurance. But anyone looking for a radar detector go for the best and only the best. V1 baby !

Some say that it is too sensitive, but the great thing is that you can judge what kind of singal you are detecting by the rate of change of the distance, the direction, and the count. If you factor all of this in it is much better to be advised of possible trouble so that you can make the final decision. It has never failed me. Highly recommended.

I bought it with the remote display, hardwiring and other accessories. The directional arrows are great for finding out what direction the police radar is coming from so that you can decide whether to slow down or not. The Police in my area primarily use Ka-band so it\'s easy to discern Police radar from anything else. With several different modes to filter it can be tailored to your particular environment. Bright glares off the hood or other shiny objects tend to set off the Laser-band detection, but if you are hit by laser its usually too late anyway. I guess it\'s still a good wake up call to be alert.
Just a reminder to those who are considering radar detectors. This is not a \"police\" detector. You still will get sqaud cars who pace you or whatever. This just gives you more advanced warning to radar use, which is more info than you had with no detector at all. It\'s up to you to use the info it gives you and decide what to do with it.
I love the V1. I\'ve used others and weren\'t nearly as impressed. It\'s a quality unit and works exceptionally well.

As newer features come out you can send in your detector for an upgrade. This is my second unit. Now it\'s a little slimer and has better software.
For the people that complain about the sensitivity in the city, you can disable individual bands if you think you own\'t need them. I would turn off the X band. Instructions on the V1 website here.
