Description: KYB AGX Shocks
These KYB AGX's are the first cost-effective sport shocks available for the Impreza on market. We highly recommend the use of these shocks with sport springs as most sport springs often exceed the limits of the factory shocks. These shocks can also offer a stand-alone increase in the handling characteristic of your vehicle without any other modifications necessary!
02 Impreza GDA/GDB (top adjustment, front and rear)

98-01 Impreza GC8 (top adjustment, front and side adjustment, rear)

Shock Features:

1. Multi-stage valving
Multi-stage valve compression enables the shock to adjust to driving conditions automatically. Under gentle road conditions, the valving allows the shock to travel freely for maximum ride comfort. As conditions get rougher, the shocks is compressed faster. The valving responds instantly, to make the shock response firmer, maintaining tire contact and vehicle control.

2. Sintered iron pistons and guide rods
Sintered metal provides far greater strength than traditional metals, extending shock life and durability.

3. Micro-smooth, hardened/chromed piston rods
KYB has the smoothest hardened/chromed rods in the business for extra-long life and reliability.

4. Seamless cylinders and eye rings
Most shock cylinders & eye rings are made from flat metal and welded at the seam. KYB cylinders and eye rings are extruded as seamless cylinders, eliminating weak points created by welded seams.

5. Multi-lip seals / self-sealing packing
KYB uses a triple-lip oil seal to keep the oil in and contaminants out.

6. Patented check valve
KYB uses a special check valve to minimize foaming caused by the mix of oil and gas inside the shock. This helps maintain reliable performance, even under tough conditions.

7. Fast on car adjustment
Convenient external dial or slot at top of rod (depending on model) allows for simple hand adjustment of the damping forces for street, cruising, or high speed driving. Eliminating the need to remove parts or lift the vehicle.

Pros: Adjustability, stock dimensions, price vs. competition, durability (at about stock height)
Cons: Only minimal adjustment ability, constantly increasing price for them new

The only real comparible option are the Koni inserts, and are alot more work and a bit more money. I got these used with GC coilover springs. Great combo, also can be seen on competitive ST-X WRX\'s moping up the competition. The adjustability works great, even on the track (could use more in the front, but so far its been VERY competitive with full coilover systems)

When mine die out eventually, I will get another set I dont see any reason to upgrade from here yet.

Pros: great improvement over stock
Cons: none so far

these were not as expensive as koni\'s, and were pretty straight forward as far as installing them. Comes with screwdriving to adjust settings on top of the strut. Adjusting the back might be a problem for some since the sedan seats cover the top of the rear struts. Great combination with the eibach prokit on the wrx.

Pros: Much more sollid than stock.
Cons: Still just a shock replacement.

Much better than stock, but again, still just a shock replacement, but easy and far less than coilovers.

Pros: better handling than stock, price
Cons: none so far

Great improvement over stock and you can\'t beat the price. I didn\'t have money for coilovers at the time so this was a great solution for me.

Pros: adjustability, durability, cost
Cons: color

I installed these recently with some prodrive lowering springs, and my WRX handles much much better than stock. It is a little stiff on the harder settings for commuting, but if you put the front all the way soft its fine. The only draw back is the bright red paint on the struts shows through my wheels, so people know I have upgraded suspension...this is minor but I prefer the stealth look.

Pros: Nice price, good replacement
Cons: Needs Eiback or similar to go along with it.

Good basic upgrade and much chaeper than coilovers. Works very well with the eibach kit.

Pros: Adjustable, easy to install, love the red color!
Cons: pain to reach back to adjust rear struts

I love these. They made a world of difference on my 96 L. I only wish there was an easier way to adjust the rear cause I have to jack up my car to reach in and turn the dial. Other than that they are a highly recommended mod and made my car handle about 400% better than the stock setup. I used these with RS stock springs which aren\'t too bad, but it would be better with some eibach or something. After all said and done, I\'d buy these for my next subaru...well worth the money.

Pros: Better handling, price
Cons: Color, limited adjustment

Good product for the price. Works well with my Tanabe GF210 springs. Much less body roll and much more response compared to stock.

Pros: price, double adjustable, price, decent quality
Cons: not a "race quality" replacement, non-rebuildable, only 4-position front adj.

impreza specs: '01 Impreza Outback Sport wagon

i have a set paired w/ GC (ground control) coilovers with double springs (rates: 143/500-F 120/400-R).
the AGX's may not be valved for the high main rates i am running, but they handle decently for an off the shelf replacement.

the double-adjustment (both compression & rebound) is nice for a street car. I can feel the adjustments in the front and rear. the front is only 4-position adjustable, so its not a huge range but its enough to make a difference.
the rear 8-position has better adjustment but they do lack some rebound valving IMO.

if i was to do it again, i, personally, would go w/ Koni's for their revalving/rebuildable ability and their stiffer rebound.
but i like my setups STIFF.
any standard streetcar should have no problem rocking the AGX's all day long! plus they're a no-brainer install.
exact replacement for OE struts.
but for someone who wants a heavy duty street or race strut, there are more options out there.

I did knotch the brake line bosses to allow for removal w/o disconnecting the brakelines

I gave 6 out of 10 cus they're an off the shelf strut with off the shelf strut limitations, plus -1 point for brakeline removal modification.
