Bad attitude, liars, looking to make a quick buck
|
|
I had a burnt steering pump. They blamed it on my aftermarket wheels (17x8 Volk TE37s) with wide tires (235/45). What a joke. They saw I had an exhaust and wheels and decided to try to get me to pay out of pocket for a faulty part. But on top of that, they were rude, just plain rude. The service writer kept threatening me that my modifications would void my entire warranty. The service manager who had given me the buddy-buddy routine suddenly showed his Mr. Jeckle side after the service writer's determination. I was ganged up on by 2 service writers and a manager. When I asked for my keys and refused service they threatened to contact SOA about my modifications if I didn't fix the issue and change things back to stock. At that point I demanded my keys... and the next step would be to call the police. I got my keys and left.
These morons are still sending me discount coupons... as if! Hah!.
There is no other side to this story. I came in with a good attitude. I would have left with a good attitude even if they had refused service. It was the threats and lies and almost-refusal to return my keys to me which gets them the lowest possible rating.
Just be sure to avoid this place. It is:
Downtown Subaru, 4133 Broadway, Oakland CA
Of course they sell Saab and some other cars too. Stick with dealerships that sell Subaru only.

Everything you can think of.

I paid a visit to Downtown Oakland Subaru and little while ago and all I can say is stay the hell away from there. First of all, they didn't even know very much about the WRX or how cars really work. They tried to tell me that ABS stands for 'the ability to brake while steering'. They tried to tell me that the price they were offering was only good for right then. Then they got someone (I think from the service department) to pretend they were interested in the very car I was looking at. They tried to pressure me into buying the car right then and there. They are liars and not to be trusted. Do not go to Downtown Oakland Subaru!

they have bad customer service

i dont even think they deserve a 1. i brought my car in at 3400 miles, to get my sti's ecu reflashed, hood aligned, and wheel aligned. they told me to come back another time so they can call soa about the eco reflashing. 3 months later 5700 miles, my threads are showing on my tires. they say its not their fault, they dont cover any sti's under warrenty, but mainly they dont have the specs on the sti, but the joe blow shop down the street does. how does subaru not have the specs 6 months after they arrive? i went to wheel works and got it all done. wow even wheel works has better customer service.

no hassle experience, online price quote

Cons:

I used an online car site to find my 2003 WRX Wagon and had 5 different dealers quote a price. Ultimately, it came down to a bidding war between Stevens Creek and Downtown Oakland. Steven Crk eventually said they couldn't match Downtown Oakland's price of $1000 below invoice. I called to confirm they had my car on the lot and picked it up that weekend. It probably could have taken a shorter amount of time to finish the paperwork, but their "online" department was just getting off the ground. Overall, the best car buying experience of my life. I'll never walk into a showroom again - online quotes is the way to go. No comment on the service department because I've had no experience with them. Cheers.

I went in to look at the wrx back in April \'01. Salesman looked at me and thought i was some kid trying to come and drive the car. i was serious with buying and he didnt even want to know my name or anything.
avoid this place like the plague unless you walk in with your parents or something.

Plenty of STi\'s to choose from

Usual dealer crap

I love the car.
They did throw in floormats, security upgrade, wheel locks, and
armrest extention. But I ended up paying too much.
They got me by switching back and forth between 5 year
and 6 year loan. The car was 32,400 before tax license and
reg, just a bit under MSRP.

Sam Man

Well, to put things straight, i worked there in car sales. I am a fellow suby enthusiast and love my 04 psm rex. while working there, i\'ve notice the sales person Sam man beating on all new cars, sti included. At least whenever he had a chance to. He would to neutral drops in auto foresters .. redlines a brandnew sti with 6 miles ... everything horrible you can think of. When i told management about it, nothing was done because he moves units. So i quit and so i\'m asking people, if you plan to buy there, dont buy it from sam man. My name is Henry Li and you can ask robert or osman (sales manager) about me.
