I told the people at Vishnu what mods I had made to the motor/exhaust (limited to STI Muffler, MRT catless up-pipe, K&N Flat Panel Filter, and GFB Blow-off valve), sent them my ECU, got it back and plugged it in. A boost gauge is recommended to make sure there is no overboost. The car flies and sounds great. Other than a slight backfire on downshift, I just can't say anything bad about this mod or their service.

Pros:
mid-range torque improvement, more power near redline
Cons:
high initial licensing cost
This is a great product for more power and better driveability at a reasonable cost. The initial cost is high due to EcuTek licensing, but later reflashes are more reasonable.
Mid-range torque is significantly improved and power continues several hundred rpm higher than stock, at least for a Vishnu Stage 0 car (catless uppipe, underdrive pulley).
Fuel economy under normal driving and cruise conditions remains unchanged - I can still achieve 29+ miles per gallon on the open road. Cold weather starting and driveability are unaffected.
The EcuTek is a good product for those who want plug-and-play performance and don't need a complete user tuning feature.

Well, to be honest, I'm wondering if he forgot to do my car or something. I didn't feel any difference with my car. That could be a good thing perhaps because there wasn't any negative effects either. I'm a little upset about it since I spent that much money. When I get the time, I am taking my car back to see what is going on (they seem like cool guys and I'm sure they will figure out what the problem is). I will edit this after it is fixed.

Pros:
Unbelievable power and reliability
Cons:
Vishnu customer service
I first started with a completely stock WRX, stock exhaust, and made 190hp at the wheels. I upgraded to a full exhaust minus up/downpipes, put in a K&N drop-in filter, and made 216hp at the wheels. This is the best performance upgrade for the money, and reliability is still intact because your stock ECU still governs all the functions of the car even though the engine runs a little harder, hotter and boostier. Vishnu is a tough company to contact, but I will vouch for Shiv\'s expertise in the automotive field and thank him for his help.

Pros:

amazing throttle response, more power/torque at all engine speeds

Cons:
none so far

So far, so good.
Just went down to Vishnu today to get my ECU reflashed, and man am I impressed. I had the reflash as part of their Stage 0 upgrade package, so I\'m actually not pushing it too hard before I can install the up-pipe tomorrow. Even with some mildly aggresive freeway driving on the way back home, I\'ve noticed a huge difference. The engine gets really torquey around 2900 rpm, and keeps pulling as the tac climbs. 5th gear is actually useful now, and 3rd and 4th gears are a blast.
Having drooled over the quality of the product, I do have to say that the people at Vishnu, while very nice and knowledgable, could work on their logistics and customer relations a bit. I live about an hour away from their site in Danville, and was told that I could go there to get all my work done (reflash and picking up parts), but once I had driven there, they told me that the parts were at another location, which added another 45 minute drive through the Bay Area. After all was said and done, I had been driving around for 5 hours (mostly Bay Area traffic\'s fault) when I should have been back home in 2 and a half.
Now, don\'t get me wrong, I\'m sure that this was a fluke and that normally Vishnu\'s great about having things where they say they\'ll be, but it did put a big damper on what should have been a really fun and exciting day. I give the product a rating of 10, because that\'s what it deserves. Awesome power and torque gains with a simple software change. I just had to go through a lot of hassle to get there. Overall, I\'d recomend these guys, just make sure they know what they\'re doing logistics wise before you commit to driving anywhere.
