475hel_uppipe.jpg

Description: The very best bang-for-the-buck performance modification for your scooby. This uppipe yields a 15+ whp gain simply by eliminating the restrictive pre-cat. By eliminating this pre-cat (with only a minor impact on emmissions) faster turbo spoolup as well as significant top-end gains are achieved. Additionally, not only does the flex section absorb torsion caused by hard driving, it eliminates leaks by allowing flanges to seat properly! Furthermore this uppipes eliminates the possibility of your pre-cat breaking away and destroying your turbo over time (has happened before!).
The Helix uppipe features:

-High quality double layered flex section - Reduces torsional vibration on vital exhaust components and turbo, also ensures perfect seal (even with aftermarket headers, downpipes, etc.)
-Thick 1/2" 304 Stainless Steel Flanges - to prevent warping and reduce heat expansion
-304 Stainless Steel Mandrel Bent Piping - Ensures proper flow and durability
-CNC Machined EGT bung - seats EGT properly unlike competitors which will eventually leak. (The EGT is there for a reason!!)
-2.25" piping diameter - optimal for upgraded turbos
-includes OE style gaskets (from same factory as OEM gaskets)

Pros: inexpensive and well built
Cons: EGT in poor location

We have installed quite a few (~60-80)aftermarket up pipes. The helix pipe is an inexpensive way to acheive performance and maintain reliability (no mis fits or leaks).
Our only suggestions would be to move the EGT bung clockwise 1". This would make it easier to install.

Pros: great price, well built.
Cons:

The up pipe was well built and came with new gaskets. There was a hole to screw in the EGT sensor so you wouldnt throw any CEL's, and the flex section helps prevent leaks. Once installed yo can feel the car pull a little more than stock. It's hard to beat it for the price.

Pros: Flex, simpler to work with
Cons:

I replaced my Perrin uppipe with the Helix flex pipe because the Perrin presented problems when I wanted to work on it myself. By all means, the Perrin is a perfectly constructed uppipe, good for years of solid performance. However, if you want to change anything that touches either side of the uppipe, with any solid pipe you have take both sides off and retorque it all down, including the turbo-side of the downpipe. This doubles the necessary efforts for any exhaust modification. Since I do most of my work on the street, having the flexpipe allows me to only take apart the side of the pipe which I am working on.

Over all its well constructed, clean welds and thick flanges.

Pros: Good price / flex section
Cons:

I like the fact that the Helix has a flex tube. Nice to know the upipe has room to breathe. Also makes future wrenching easier in that area.

Pros: flex, catless
Cons: none

easy way to decrease turbo lag, catless uppipe prevents cat from ever breaking and having peices go into your turbo. Defective cats do exists, plus on the uppipe, most people wont notice it because it is pretty deep inside the engine bay.

Pros: Good Quality build — Flex Joint makes for no leaks
Cons: None so far

It does what its suppossed to. Its made really well and looks pretty good even though you can\'t see it once installed. Well worth it. I now can hear the turbo spooling and it improves mid to low end a decent amount.

Pros: Great build quality, flex section is awesome, no leaks
Cons: None so far.

Just taking this thing out of the box you know it\'s high quality. The flanges are really thick and the welds look great. I didn\'t have any leaks after the install. I can\'t comment on power gains because I did it as part of a Cobb Stage 2 upgrade.

Pros: Faster spool, flex section
Cons: Installation

A must performance upgrade. Installation is not that difficult, it only takes a good amount of time. Well worth the 6 hr install time!

Pros: Cheap; Fits well
Cons: None

Can\'t beat this in terms of Bang-For-The-Buck for an UP. Fits great because of the flex joint. No downsides I see, other than potential build quality issues down the road compared to JDM units.
