Self-diagnostics function monitors both sensor disconnection and short-circuiting during startup.
a) Sensor disconnection check:
This function reports any in-proper connections, broken or disconnected sensor or sensor wire. The pointer will wave between 250 and 260 degrees.
b) Short-circuiting check:
This function indicates any short circuit on the sensor or sensor wire.
The pointer will wave between 10 and 20 degrees. (See picture below)

Pros:
Does not require a control unit and looks OEM!
Cons:

I chose this defi because it does not require a control unit and since I only wanted one gauge, I didn't need the control unit setup. So, it's cheaper than the other defis and looks just as OEM. It is of good quality and accuracy.
