Increasing boost pressure also increases intake temperature, reducing potential power output. So in typical TurboXS fashion we've developed with Hyperflow, the LARGEST top-mount intercooler you can fit under your hood.
The TurboXS TMI dwarfs the factory intercooler by 2.14 times. A larger surface area means more cooling capacity and being larger than any top-mount competitor, we're just plain cooler!
TXS TMI used to power our WRX to an 11.96 @ 115 MPH in the quarter mile. The addition of the TMI adds 30 more HP at the wheels with additional tuning. The TMI allowed boost pressure to remain constant all the way to redline.
Dual intercooler inlets take full advantage of the intercooler's size by evenly distributing the air across the bar- and-plate core for more efficient cooling, while the large cast alloy end tanks distribute heat evenly across the intercooler and aid in smoothing air flow.
Massive bar and plate construction reduces pressure drop over stock allowing the turbocharger to spin slower while producing the same boost pressure in the intake manifold. Not only will this prolong turbocharger life but will also reduce the air temperature exiting the turbocharger, effectively increasing intake charge density.
New CNC machined billet aluminum end-tanks reduce weight by 4 lbs and provide ample clearance for AC lines.

Direct Bolt on for the 2002 WRX and includes cast "Y" piece and 2 silicone connectors. Also fits with the VF30, VF23, VF22, and PE series turbochargers. Works with factory bypass valve and the TurboXS BOV-H or the Type H-BOV.

V1 has slight fitment issues
V1 has slight fitment issues (rubs A/C line) - but this has been corrected in V2 along with a different look (laser welded tanks, polished exterior and better BOV compatibility).
GREAT unit. Took 3/10th's off of my 1/4 mile time and allowed me to dial up the boost a pound or two without any knock.

I rated this low because it is no longer made and you can not get new hoses for it. I tried and could not get them from TurboXS or Hyperflow. I had to trim my throttle body to intercooler hose and bend a support mount so unit would not rub my A/C line. Line wore very thin until I noticed it. Also makes it hard to check transmission fluid and most aftermarket scoop splitters will not fit with this unit without trimming. I also dented my fender removing the IC, I hit fender with knee, it is a PITA to take off and install. I recommend you put a little grease on the turbo outlet and throttle body hoses to ease installation. I also modified a large flat blade screwdriver by bending the tip to help get the hoses on. Rubs hood once in a while (when very hot) making an annoying chatter.
Other than that I assume it gives you more HP. Intercooler gets very cold and does a great job of lowering the intake temperature.

Overall I like it, but I did encounter some fitment issues. It was a PITA to install, but I got it on within 30 minutes of haggling. Unfortunately a splitter cannot be used with this TMIC unless you trim it a great deal. However, it sits so close to the scoop entrance, one really isn\'t required. I would recommend it.

Installation was a snap with no fitment issues on the stock hoodscoop. Once I got a larger JDM STI Hood Scoop (2002-3) and the larger APS Hood Scoop Splitter, the back seal of the splitter did rub against the top-most portion of the TMIC causing a little wear on the seal, but no damage to the IC. One of the easiest mods I\'ve made to the WRX.

Cons:
Hoses difficult to re-install
I installed mine about three years ago. Install was not difficult just a bit of a pain. Mine did touchthe AC line but it came with instructions to protect the line with a split piece of heater hose. Mine isn\'t polished
