Wheel fiasco... any ideas
Hey all...sorry it's a little long but here's a story for you.
So this weekend I go up to South Lake Tahoe for halloween. On the way up I blew out a tire. I need to head home Sunday, gotta work on Monday, so I am limited to the shops up there and what they have in stock. I end up going with Toyo proxes 4 from Les Schwab. (size 225/45/17)
Heres the kicker... while they are doing my tires, they manage to snap one of my wheels!
The wheels that were on my car were sr racing sr7 17"... So far I've only been able to find one of these anywhere... it's an 18" wheel for 150 on ebay.
I found a link with the wheel, but the place doesnt sell wheels anymore so no luck on pricing ...here's the link it may be an offshoot of kmc if this link is correct... http://www.nationalautoandtire.com/custom_wheels.htm then click on the sr racing link...
The guy at Les Scwhab has also looked for them and it looks like these are discontinued.
So, bottom line is Les Schwab is going to give me 500 bucks to get some new wheels from them, OR put towards a set of higher priced ones.
Two questions for you all...
1) Anybody know what these wheels are/were worth? again sr racing sr7 in 17"??? I want to make sure these werent some crazy **s wheels (I'm pretty sure they weren't) and that I'm getting a fair price.
2)Any opinions on which way I should go with wheels for around $500... I have not been looking for wheels so I'm in the dark as far as what I can get for what price. I like the Rota Grids and I'm going to try and head out to subydude/wheeldude and talk to them about it also...
Any ideas are appreciated...
In the meantime I'll be doing research trying to find pricing on my originals and what I can get for around 500 bucks.
FYI the car is a 2004 wrx on stock suspension (for now)
Thanks - Troup
