Wheel fitment

Wheel fitment
Need some advice regarding rims and tires I plan on getting. I have a 2013 wrx HB with RCE springs. Will I need anymore modifications other than rolling my fenders if I put on Rota D's 18x9.5 +40 off set with 265/35's tires? Or would 18x8.5 +44 be better? I want the tire flush with the fenders. Thanks in advance once again.

18x8.5 +44 is a much better fit, though you won't be flush. Flush fitment = bad fitment because you won't be able to run enough tire and you're likely running too low of an offset. Not to mention you won't be able to take advantage of tires sizes you can run on 9.5" wheels. In other words 265s are excessive for anything that's not motorsport usage. You would never be able to utilize anything wider than 245/255 on public roads to their potential, and on a DD there would actually be negatives to running more tire and wheel than you need (increased cost, tramlining, loss of gas mileage, increased chance of hydroplaning, quicker steering component wear, and accelerated bearing wear). We've actually seen a increase in steering rack failures on newer models that can likely be attributed to wheel setups.
