non-oem tire pressure
this is probably a noob question, but i thought i'd ask anyways.
if i have non-oem tires that are the same size as the oem ones, is it standard to just use the tire pressure specified on the door area? or do i need to check with the manufacturer?

A max pressure is all you will find on the tire itself. Don't use that as an actual inflation pressure.
Use the recommended pressures on the sticker (or in the owners manual) as a starting point. You can gradually increase them by a few psi to obtain the desired handling vs. ride quality compromise. If there is a differential between front and rear in the OEM specs it's best to maintain that.
