245/40/17 for autocross

This is a question to those who compete in the STU class in autocross using a 2004 STi. For those using the max allowable for AWD 245 width on a 17" rim, what wheels/width/offset you are using and what modifications were done to your car to accomodate this wheel/tire combo? I'm currently running my stock BBS wheels with 225/45/17 Dunlop Star Specs and would like to go wider.

you can fit 245s on the stock rim but it fits better on an 8-9 inch wide rim. Either 18s or 17s have tires that work. PM me if you want a deal on a set of 3 rims (you gotta buy the fourth one from tirerack) I use to autocross a bit in 2008/2009 but stopped this year, these rim combo worked well on the faster courses cause the 2nd gear is too short on the 04-06 sti
