do you know if the cobb lowering springs will fit a legacy spec b 2006? i know the coil overs will not but not sure about just springs.

No I dont think so. I just did a search comparing our cars & no brand part numbers match. Looks like these will only fit 05 - 07 STI not sure about WRX too.

I want the springs, but my wife says "no way".

Here is some info on them from the Cobb site:

The COBB 2004-2007 Subaru STI and WRX Sport Spring Kit is the best first step to a better handling and better looking car. The 1.25” drop front and 1” drop rear lowers the car’s center of gravity to improve cornering speed and response while also minimizing wheel gap for a sportier look. This aggressive stance reduces squat and wheel hop under hard acceleration. Progressive spring rates of 195 lbs/in front and rear provide the sport feel without being unnecessarily harsh or bouncy.
