Need to replace struts on 2000 OBS, any suggestions?

I'm brand new to the Subie world, so cut me some slack on specifics.

I bought a 2000 OBS a few days ago and the tires are cupping and such from blown struts.

In short, I don't have the cash to shell out for good coils, and my objective is simple: an affordable damper setup that can sort of evolve as I continue to drive the car.

My best example of what I mean AND what I'd prefer to do is this: Koni inserts.

In short, when you buy Konis, you can drive on them for a year, then buy GC sleeves and nice springs for the setup. The problem is I haven't seen any threads with an OBS on Konis. My only real worry is that the piston travel isn't long enough to satisfy the higher ride height, though I may just needlessly be worrying.

However, I'm unsure as to whether this is the best way to go or if you have another idea. My budget is limited, and Konis are at the top.
