Talking Is it worth getting a '06 STi when you can get a '06 WRX??? find out here!!!

(Info Source "SubieSport magazing") WRX---- One big upgrade they fixed is the WRX Tranny so no more of the old junk. The beefed up that brakes in the front to four-piston calipers and two-piston in the rear. STi aluminum suspension links have been handed down also. A tighter turning radius from 16.5:1 was cut down to 15.0:1 ratio. And to top it all off they dropped a 2.5 liter engine in there compared to the old 2.0 liter of the '05 model. The WRX will also be offered in a Tuner model the "WRX TR" The TR is the same engine, same brakes, same wheels, same LSD in the rear, and same nose but the changes are the accountrements. Cheaper seats and a basic stereo. The TR will be cheaper that the normal WRX but they haven't realeased a price just yet. In my opinion It's not worth getting the STi. In the long run the money you put into a WRX that was left over from the STi you can make your WRX faster than a STi.

Look up how much it would cost you to buy a WRX and then have the STI 6-speed swapped into it, along with the variable DCCD and other electronics (plus an ECU). Then tell us what a bargain that WRX is.

I am saying power to power. With an extra 7 grand in your pocket you could make a STi killer. 6-speed doesn't mean anything just shorter gear ratios. I'm just giving you what you can do to a WRX, do you think I care if you go blow an extra 7 grand on an STi when I don't even like the new style bodies period so go f*** yourself.

I don't think the TR has bigger brakes either. The brembos w/ rotors and pads should run you $2k+ easy. No sense in dumping $7K into your car to make it go faster if you can't bring the car to a stop. Unless you like crashing. Oh yeah, the 2.5L in the WRX is rev limited to 6.5K, not to mention, it won't have the internals of the STI, which make it more reliable. Should I continue?

Having a WRX is good, but with an STi, it offers better things right off the box. Plain and simple. It wouldn't be 30k for nothing. And if we talk about after market parts, I still think the STi would have the advantage, given the same amount of money would be spent.. my 2 cent!

gee, you're right! Different suspension geometry, bushings, struts, springs, brakes (4 pots dont touch the brembos) a correctly tuned engine, no fwd handling characteristics, a larger rear diff, seats, forged wheels... thats just a bunch of stupid stuff.

Not to mention that its already correctly set up.

I will agree that the wrx continues to be a better choice for the casual enthusiast, and now it's even more so.

You make such a convincing argument. How could anyone disagree with you?

I agree with you, straight up. why bother spending wayyy extra cash suping up a car to make it as fast or a lil quicker than the STi? First you will most likely void warranty. and i like to keep most things under manufacturer so its free for maintanence. plus IMO i think the 06 STi looks awsome!

Also, the gear ratio on the 06 5 spd is longer than before, which makes it harder to autox in. ><

I don't know if the WRX is better valued, but if I were to get another Suby, it'd be a WRX and not an STi. I have an 02 wagon and frankly, I can catch up to STi's and Evo's in the backroads. On the freeway, that's another story, but freeways don't mean much to me. They burn me on the track, but I don't track that often. I guess it is what you need that matters. Sure, a faster car is always better than a slower car. But how many of us can really use up the full potential of our WRX's? Besides, I am getting too old to have a big spoiler on my car.
