Need help with 98 RS. OBDII P0102 Mass or Volume Circuit Low Input?
Hi,
Last night it rained here in LA and after I drove my '98 2.5RS through a huge puddle, the engine began hesitating and then died. When I restarted it, the Check Engine Light (CEL) was on. The car died a few more times on my way home.
I figured what happened was that water got up into the fender (where the snorkus used to be) and into the airbox.
I checked it with a code scanner and got the following:
OBDII P0102 Mass or Volume Circuit Low Input
I think it has something to do with the MAF, right?
Anyway, this morning I drove the car again, and it did that weird hesitation/almost dying thing again. I kept driving and it went away. It was fine all day.
Then it was parked for a few hours this evening. When I started it again, it happened again and the CEL came back on.
Same code.
It seems the car is especially susceptible to dying when I'm just idling, which seems to make sense if it's having problems figuring out how much air it's getting...
So... what should I do? I thought drying out overnight would take care of it, but obviously not.
Thanks,
Phil

does your scanner read on board live data.if so @idle the mass air flow should read (2.2)-(4.2) grams per second.@2500 rpm
it should read (8.6)-(14.5)grams per second.also look at the wire element on the air flow meter and see if something is stuck on it.check ur dipstick level also to make sure you didnt take in any water through the air intake.
