Any Problems?

I am looking at buying a WRX or possible an STi after this summer. Does anyone have any problems with either car that they have run into, or that many people seem to experience(engine, tranny, etc) I have mazda protege now, I love this car, but its a little slow. There are some major tranny problems with this car(I just got a new one put in). SO i am just wondering what I need to be wary of when gettting a WRX/Sti. Now I know that this has been discussed in great length, but what is more reliable as of now, especially for modding greatly, WRX or STi?

my 04 sti - 11,000 miles no problems

if u plan on driving hard and modifying your car, like any car you need to constantly maintain it to make sure it has the optimum performance.

^^^ agree with gdogg.

these cars are solid. i have heard that they dont have the strongest tranny but it seems like it is rare for them to go out with regular spirited driving

i bought my car three months ago and drive it as much as possible. the thing leaves me speechless

My Home Maintenance teacher drives a subey, he claims they are the best cars out there =), What he told me was about every 60,000 miles u should change the timing belt on the car. I asked him why he said he dosent know about the new cars but it happens alot with subies. o and in my class were doing small gas engines. (he told us how to get a golf cart to go 60mph+)

I have only had one problem (factory caused problem anyway) with my WRX, which has 21k mi on it. The biggest problem I have is the shiesty dealers in my area.

That stinks. I guess I'm spoiled having Super Rupair here in Boulder, the largest independent subie repair shop in the country.
