06 wrx limited i

hey everyone. first off i am new to this forum and i am not currently a subie owner but hope to be very soon. i was planning on getting a wrx limited, 5 speed of course so i called a friend today at a local dealer and to get the car in the color i want (rally blue) i have to order it. what i am curious about is the limited i he told me about. has anyone heard of this? its supposedly a limited production car that has more horse than a standard wrx but less than an sti. somewhere in the middle. about 2 grand more than a regular rex and 3 less than an sti. i have not seen any info or specs on this car. anyone heard of it?? one other question as far as options go i dont see a need for security upgrade if i am going to install a better alarm anyway, i would rather get aftermarket gauges than opt for the oem boost gauge. i couldnt care less about a auto day night mirror because i am going to smoke out the windows. the only option i am considering is the short throw shifter. my question for those that have it is, how much of a difference does it really make in the shifts? i have driven an 04 wrx without it and it seemed to shift pretty quick to me, a lot better than my accord anyway. thanks guys. by the way, are there any meets or club gatherings in the nj/philly area?

All the 06 WRX's have the same amount of power. The limited doesn't have any more power than non-limited WRX's.

The Limited has everything that SubieStylez listed above and beyond the others but no mechanical differences.

IMO, the security upgrade for the WRX is pretty good. It has shock and door sensors, valet mode, etc. Uses the horns for alerting, so a simple upgrade is some 118dB Hella Supertone horns . I think it has starter kill too - though I can't remember. Doesn't matter though, my access port will handle it

yes the 06 wrx comes with engine immobolizer. and the oem shortshifter dont do crap. You're better off with a kartboy short shifter and bushings.

As far as I know, I think your dealers is mistaken or is talking nonsense. I researched and looked at every possible source for the 2006 wrx and there was not one shred of such info. Of course, I could be wrong but I highly doubt it.

no, i have the japanese wrx borchure right in front of me, it does not say anything about a limited i. Your dealer is mistaken (very common among new sales reps. When they dont have the answer, sometimes they lie) so i'd suggest talking to the internet manager o fleet manager, usually they are more knowledgable about this stuff. "usually".

Just my 2 cents
