'02 WRX cylinder misfire (p0304)
I suggest anyone that gets the p0304, p0303, p0302, or p0301 and your car is still under warrenty BRING IT IN. I brought mine in to the (North Aurora, Illinois) dealer near my house. They (DAVE is AWSOME) reset computer and replicated the CEL and error code within a day. The way they fixed it was to take the CPU out of my car and send it to SOA. There it was reprogrammed with an updated version of the software.
Not only did this erease and fix the CEL, but i get 350 miles on a full tank when i use to get 290/295. So of course i assumed they bumped the power down in this now software.... NOPE!!!
I had been to a local AWD dyno near my house a few months back. 172 at the wheels..about average to high for a '02 WRX.
Now I get 185 at the wheels. The Dyno company couldnt believe it and gave me 6 pulls for free to replicate the 185bhp numbers. Every time i got 182 or 185!!!!!!!!!!
So they put a shop owned Skyline on there that they knew the exact BHP it made. Hit it right on the nose. So the Dyno was working properly.
Let me know what you think. Im extatic!!!

How many times did you take it in for the misfire code before they sent the ECU in for reprogramming? Did you first notice the problem after you saw the "check engine" warning light?
I'm just wondering because I've had one "check engine" light occurance on my 50K mi 03 WRX Sedan. That was about 8K ago. I took it in to an independent shop who read the misfire code and did the reset. We didn't change anything and the car has run fine w/no more codes since then. I wonder if I can get this reflash on my next trip to the dealer for maintenance?
