Do 2.5rs suck ass or what?

I love my 2-dr RS to death. It may very well be becaust it's my first car, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It doesn't have much aftermarket support in the US, but that's ok. It just makes it harder to make it into a trailer beyotch and keeps it on the streets and back roads where it belongs.

Impreza LX
My first new Subaru was a '96 Impreza LX Coupe. Black Diamond Pearl. An absolutely gorgeous color! It was black with candy apple red metallic in it.
Four wheel disc brakes that were just perfect.
I drove the car 136k miles in 35 months. I drive a lot. The tranny crapped the bed, and the dealer wanted $4800 for a new transmission. They refused to split the cases and repair it, and the car was too new for there to be any remanufactured units out there.
I traded it in for a new, '99 VW Golf TDI -- which I drove 100k miles in 26 months. I was majorly disappointed and couldn't dump that steaming pile fast enough.
I sold that outright and bought a '97 Impreza L wagon with 42k miles. I only put 85k on that in 20 months. But for sure, that wagon will go down in my book as the most trouble-free car I ever owned.
And now I have the GM6 RS. I picked it up with 28k miles last Saturday.
I'm almost at 30k.
I **LOVE** Subarus.

Does the RS suck , eh?
I am a WRX owner and I truly love my little buggy eyed monster, but the RS is and always will be Subaru's sexiest car...That face is to die for. All the RS owners are proud of owning such a great looking car and so they should be (they'll never get called a NEON!)
And fast... well from what I've seen (tail lights getting smaller in the distance, that is!), hell yeah they're fast!

I think more than anything, I can say that the RS has balance.
It seems to have power that's just right. There certainly are faster cars on the road. I would even dare say that my '91 Legacy Turbo was faster, even with a few less claimed ponies. I always thought that car was a lot more powerful than the claimed 160 hp.
But my RS seems to be just about perfect. What's more, I can't believe that I'm getting 30 mpg!!! That's better than any other Subaru I've ever had -- with the Legacy Turbo being the worst. I would regularly get less than 17 mpg in the city. Terrible!
It's just funny to me that I now have all manner of punk-*** kids wanting to race me in their Lancers, Eclipses, etc. I really don't give them the satisfaction. Who knows, maybe at age 30, I'm getting more mature.
No, that's not it.
I guess I just *know* that I have a superior car, and I have nothing to prove.

LANCER WHAT?
HAHA the lancer I drove was a joke... My Rs would smoke the doors off it. And as for the EVO I would bet my lunch money to say that the new WRX STI would take care of that little jewel. I can not back that up because I do not know that much about the EVO except for the horsepower ratio and that for the same with the suby. But the stock lancer really can not compare to the Rs.

the japanese video Best Motoring 5 does a comparison of the evo's & the impreza's all the way back from their 1st generations.. to the spec C & the evo VII (video was made before the viii).. i luv hell outta the video!!
i almost bought an 00 RS, but didn't have money at the time.. luved that it was not as common as honda's & toyota's. and the horsepower can be deceiving. those cars have some nice torque! and at the scca solo II races, the RS drivers are kickin' more *** than the wrx's.. but i kno that's in part to the driver..
Luv my WRX.. much respect for the RS..

2.5RS suck?
I nearly bought a Rex new in 02. By chance I spotted a 2000 2.5RS, 5 speed in Blue Ridge Pearl with 26,000 miles on it and just had to have it. I personally think that 00 and 01 RS are more agressive looking. I have had the RS for a little less than a year and slowly tranformed the RS with mods and upgraded STI parts, with the transformation ongoing. Does the RS suck, yes it does, but not in the the way you meant it. The RS sucks the doors off comparable powered cars and on the backroads sucks everything into its vortex. It just get better all the time.

Bought my rs when I was 16. Decided to not go turbo because I wanted to learn more about cars before wrapping myself around a tree or blowing a hole through my motor. I love her and plan on finally selling her to move up to STI grounds. They are fantastic cars for the younger age group as it really gives you a subaru tease, I learned to drive standard on it as well as had a few bumps and gear grinds without worrying about an empty wallet. Great cars, absolutely recommend it if you are new to manuals, awd, or just scoobies in general. Great platform to learn on but now it's time for me to listen to the flat four rumble with a little spooling action. Cheers!
