ok so mine....
it started to just flicker to the blue screen of death and then restart after. I did a virus scan using AVG and it didnt come up with anything. It started happening more and more so I luckily back everything up. Well then it got so back i couldnt even log in without it restarting. So my roommate had a Vista disc and we were just going to load it and start fresh. The Vista disc got about 70% done and then came up with an error and ejected the dics. So now i have no OS and when i try to boot it up it just goes to a black screen that says something like "BOOTMGR is missing press crtl+alt+del to restart" but it just goes back to that screen. So my roommate pulled my HD out, took apart his external HD and plugged mine into it, then plugged that into his desktop. He formatted my HD to wipe everything out. Put it back in my laptop ran the Vista disk again and it came up with the same error. So not too sure where to go from there.
then my fiances....( and she has XP)
Monday a virus somehow got loaded onto her comp. Its called PC_Antispyware2010 and its a beezy! I was going to to see if i could uninstall it the easy way by control panel uninstal programs... right when i clicked the control panel the desktop and start menu disapeared... so i opened the task manager and did the explorer.exe command to open the desktop and it wouldnt let me. So i restarted to comp and still nothing. So i turned it off and tried rebooting and still no desktop. We read that the program malwarebytes and tried starting a scan. The second the scan started the virus shut the program down. We tried to do a system restore to the day before the virus struck but that didnt work. And when we try to log in safe mode the screen will flicker then go back to the black screen with the 3 safe mode options (safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt). So now the comp is stuck on that screen and wont even let us start windows normaly. So a guy suggested to pull her HD and do what we did to mine, but instead formatting it (cuz she doesnt have A LOT of her stuff backed up) plug it into the desktop and then scan it with the malwarebytes.
what do u guys think? Any other ideas on what to do with either one?
