I called my provider, and they offered to change my number, but then I'd have to give out a new number, etc.
Anybody have any suggestions, or go through the same thing?

It may be that the dialer is trying to call an 800 number, but I've heard everything from exhaust drone in the car to people talking, doors opening/closing, breathing... Also, the calls at night are always from a private number. These calls started last year in October.
I don't pick up the calls at night anymore. As for blocking private numbers... We're currently remodeling our house, and I've been getting a lot of follow up calls (re: estimates, etc.) from either numbers that I don't recognize or private numbers, and I actually have to take those calls. I'll see if I can block private numbers once this remodeling fiasco is done with.
