These greedy bastards are going to make gas (87) $3.00 a gal. by Memorial Day weekend I bet you... (start of Summer for travel)
They are actually shutting down refinery plants to create less supply... and use the war as an excuse for high prices.. we have been at war with Iraq and guess their doing exactly what they planned... hike up prices and make Billions in profit.. of course we will do nothing to insult our buddies in Saudi... nevermind that all the 9-11 terrorists were Saudi nationals..
Who's gonna be the first dude on the block with a Hydrogen fuel cell technology WRX?

A little rant to get your head spinning.
If you consider all the money spent in Iraq so far, we could have invested half of that into converting our country to a hydrogen economy, and this would have caused an economic boom. We would also be free from our dependance on foreign oil. Want to know how to stop terrorism, stop the funding. How? Stop buying oil, and then watch those countries that depend on our oil money start squirming. Our country would dominate the global markets yet again, and all our worries about the economy would vanish. All it would take is an initial investment by the GOV'T to show people that this shift to H is for real. Then private companies would realize that all the money is gonna be in a hydrogen future and start creating the necessary infrastructure, and jobs to make that happen. Oil companies can either get with the program, or go bankrupt.

By the way, does anybody else think we are going to war with Iran if Bush gets re-elected? If you think strategically, we have troops in Iraq (west of Iran), and troops in Afghanistan (east of Iran). Then they can start the draft again to fill the ranks on the eastern front, then put the squeeze on by a two front war. Either that, or scare the **** out of Iran till their gov't collapses under the political upheaval, and then we can install yet another wonderful middle eastern gov't.

JavaRex,
Man, your so right, but since Senior Bush's family is all BIG OIL, we aren't gonna see any serious Fed. money go into fuel cells... it could be done, I agree, but since our own OIL co's make so much refining crude, they will fight it in court every step of the way..
They just throw a bone to alt. fuel car manuf. to say were working on it...
If Subie did a test of Fuel Cell Tech they could use my 03 without a blink... sure it could run
on CNG....

I have seen hydrogen conversions on the net, the d.i.y. type. I had a 89' camaro rs that i was planning on trying it on. I just ended up going to Chiropractic College instead, and now I have NO time for anything except the occasional board post. At least my student loans allow me some extra cash to put into my Scooby.

You Said it!!!
If gas was "reasonable", bet we'd all be pushing the turbo boost levels a bit higher (heavy pedal) and kicking those "other" imports who think they are sooo bad....
wonder how long the EVO's turbo lasts w/ 19lbs of boost???

actually I'm not that crazy...
was referring to 76 Gas Stations in SoCal that use ethonal blend instead of MTBE (the stuff that ruined our ground water and causes cancer)...
76 Stations don't use MTBE in their formula, they replace it with grain alcohol...
Since the concentration of alcohol is small, hopefully won't fowl the plugs..

spec,
Where do you auto-x? I am really thinking of getting into that scene. I have some extra money from my student loan check that I just got today (thank god, since I had about $5 in my bank), and after accessport and catback, I still have enough to get a full hotchkis sway bar kit, and springs. So now I need a place to use all this stuff. Anyways, auto-x seems fun, and low cost. Coming from an RSX-S with all that understeer, wheelspin, and torque-steer my car seem SO much more capable. The first day I got it I drove PCH, then took sunset from the ocean all the way through beverly hills. It was fun trying to drive with all the Porches, BMW's, and Mercedes. I love driving those curves. The only scary thing is those people driving Suburbans and Escalades, taking those turns WAY TOO FAST, then drifting into my lane not expecting me to pass their *** at 60 in the middle of a curve. Good thing we have good brakes.

BTW, it is so funny how environmentalists forced the state to pass a bill making MTBE mandatory in gasoline, and now it F***ed up the environment even more. It is going to cost millions to clean up the mess, and guess who is crying about that too. Funny how things happen like that. Also I heard gas that contains ethanol is BAD for turbo cars, there was a post about it on one of these boards. I would just say dont put it in to be safe.

Paul,
I attended a Rally-X/Rally School last fall sponsored by Subaru, NASA, SCCA and the California Rally Series up at Ridgecrest...
It was put on by John Dillon and other top rally instructors...
www.californiarallyseries.com for details...
and for photo's of the event (all sorts of cars were on the course) go to:
http://www.pbase.com/token/crs
One brand new STi dug into too deep in a corner and with 300hp/ft.lbs torque, he rolled over at slow speed.. that was the only problem all weekend..
running full boost in 1st gear and sliding around was insane!
I was running the cars OEM tires so they didn't grip as well as the winter tires or full on rally tires of course.. with better tires, the mud really fly's!!!!
Check out the photos at pbase... he got some really got shots and shared them with us for free..
