Decal Removal

What is the best way to remove factory stuck decals. I was thinking of using a steam generator. Any Suggestions.
Also On the impreza outback how is the two tone lower color applied. ie is it painted on or applied over factory paint. Just trying to not re paint entire car.

Thanks

A steam machine will work. I used kerosene, and buffed out all of the shading, as mine was 3 years old at the time. The paint still looks good, 3 years later.

hair dryer to soften the glue and your fingernail to peel it off. Use WD-40 to remove the excess glue then wax the whole area.
