Terminology

Do any of you guys say "the dub" when referring to your WRX? I've got a friend that swears everyone who owns one calls it that... It sounds too close to "vee dub" to me. I've just been using "rex", which the insurance company probably doesn't like the sound of, but it does mean king in Latin.

"the dub"?

Sorry, can't say I've ever heard it. But, if it ain't a west coast thing, then that could be the reason I've never heard it too.

I prefer using that announcer voice and calling it "The All New Subaru W. R. X."

Honestly, I think it's more of a "my deluded friend" thing more than anything else. Announcer voice sounds pretty good.

I've got lots of names for my car. I have used "the dub" before, but mostly I'll call it "the rex" or if I'm feeling saucy it turns into "T-Rex".

When ever I use the term rex people think I'm talking about a crx. Does that happen to any one?

I call it the Subaru, the Impreza, the WRX, the Subaru Impreza WRX, the Impreza WRX, and Subaru-chan (that's from the Japanese exchange students gals at school).

Question

The only people I've heard say "Dub" are VW'ers...

That's what I think of too when I hear you guys call the WRX a "REX"...confuses me since I used to want one of those Subaru micro cars once upon a time.

This is a true Subaru REX...550cc of supercharged fury!

Born and raised over here on the west coast, every time I heard someone say "dub", it always meant a 20" rim. But for a WRX? Never heard that one.. As for my own personal TOE, I was always fond of my own little twist.. "Scoobadoo"
