Thumbs up North Bay Drive: Feb 13th (sunday) **be warned**

Ok there seems to be enough interest in this drive to start it's own thread. It will be happening Feb. 13th (sunday) starting at 10 am in Santa Rosa KK. My wife and i did the route plus lunch in just 4 hours. I suspect that because we have a group it will take much longer, although some of us we be driving much faster and some much slower

Meeting place: Santa Rosa Krispy Kream donuts "Yolanda exit"

Time: Start time 10:00 am sharp so be early. The drive will take about 5 - 6 hours to complete. That is including a lunch stop and photo stops etc....

Route:
1.) leave KK (corner of santa rosa ave & Yolanda ave) and head (north) on Hwy 101.

2.) Exit "secret" (6.6 miles)

3.) turn (left) onto "secret" (7.0 miles)

4.) turn (right) onto "secret" (8.2 miles)

5.) turn (right) onto "secret" (10.9 miles)

6.) turn (left) onto 128 north (19.1 miles)

7.) continue on 128 until it becomes "Alexander Valley Rd" (around 22 miles)

8.) turn (right) onto "Lytton Station Rd" (25.0 miles)

9.) at the stop sign turn (right) continue on "Lytton Station" (26.4 miles)
Time: 10:30am *** the group will pull over here and wait for everyone to catch up. Andyc will also be meeting us here. (area is just east of Hwy 101 near Alaxander valley Rd)*** By 10:45 we are back on the road.

10.) turn (right) onto "secret" (29.2 miles)

11.) turn (left) onto "secret" (30.0 miles)

12.) turn (left) onto "secret" (30.7 miles)
this will be one of the slow areas do to traffic. Hopefully we will get lucky and won't have any, but highly doubtful. there are a lot of homes around there and that time is when many are leaving their houses to go into town.

13.) Turn (right) onto "secret" (35.7 miles)
like the last section. here we will most likely have traffic as well

14.) turn (right) onto "secret" (40.8 miles)
here's where the fun begins. Very narrow and twisty. lots of damp areas and blind corners.

15.) at the bottom of "secret" there is a quary. (49.7 miles)
*** this will be our second spot for people to re-group. 5 minute stop only***

16.) at stop sign turn (lift) onto Armstrong Woods Rd (51.2 miles)

17.) when entering the town of Guernville, turn (right) onto "River Rd" (53.0 miles)

18.) stop at "Taqueria La Tapatia, inc" for a lunch break and to talk have a beer etc.. 16632 Main St. Guerneville so bring some money stop is no more than one hour. (53.4 miles)

19.) continue (right) on "River Rd" Time: 12:45 pm
this will be a long stretch with lots of cars, but it'll make for some nice (while driving) photos of the pack.

20.) turn (right) onto "secret" (60.2 miles)

21.) turn (right) onto "secret" (one of the great roads EVER) (66.8 miles)
there will be a shot stop here so we can space the cars out a little. this road will really see who came to drive and who came to cruise. Cars will be spaced 10 seconds apart. If someone catches you, please pull over and let them pass.

22.) turn (left) onto "secret" (83.3 miles)

23.) vear (left) onto "secret." (87.1 miles)

24.) keep (left) road becomes "secret" (94.0 miles)

25.) keep (right) road becomes "secret" (94.5 miles? missed mileage)

26.) turn (left) onto Hwy 1 south (99.1 miles)

27.) 3rd meeting place. A small turn out for cars (109.6 miles)

28.) turn (left) onto "secret" (112.2 miles)

29.) turn (right) onto "secret" (120.7 miles)

30.) turn (left) onto "secret" (125.5 miles)

31.) turn (right) onto "secret" (mileage missed)

32.) turn (right) onto Hwy 1 south 'again' (129.4 miles)

33.) turn (right) onto "secret" (130.9 miles)
group will slow for everyone to catch up.

34.) turns into "secret"

35.) turn (left) onto "secret" (134.5 miles)

36.) at stop sign continue (straight) onto "secret" (137.3 miles)

37.) turn (right) onto "secret" (143.3 miles)

38.) road becomes "secret"

39.) turn (left) onto "secret" (144.9 miles)

40.) turn (left) onto "secret" (147.6 miles)

41.) turn (left) onto "Stoney Point Rd" (149.5 miles)

42.) the drive will end at the famous Washoe House on the corner of Stoney Point and Roblar Rd in North petaluma. (149.8 miles)

The whole thing should be over by 4:00 pm tops. From Washoe House it's very easy for everyone to find their way back to Hwy 101. We will hang out for a little while and talk about the great day we had. Hopefully we will go without any problems. But if we drive with our heads there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Now i've received a few PM's with questions about the drive etc... Well, i'll do my best to put everyone at ease. Over the past few years the North bay group and i have put together many weekend drives. Mostly organized by myself, jeremy, or pete. All of these drives have taking place on many, if not all of the greatest back roads the north bay has to offer. For the most part all the roads have been paved (and we'll state if before hand or come up with alternate routes for those who don't wish to et thier cars dirty).

I will not lie to yo guys. In the past we have had several time where people have actually damaged thier cars (including myself) All of these have happened because of driver error. Be it one thing or another. So i'll stress once again. "These drives are ment to be fun for everyone." People are to drive at the speeds that they feel comfortable with and there is to be NO BUNCHING UP OR TAILGATING!!!! If the group shows up and there is clearly too many cars we will then be split up into groups or paces 1 minute apart from each other.

Never worry about getting left behind or lost. The group will always be stopped at any and all intersection so that nobody takes the wrong road. There may even be a "sweeper" car that is knowing of these roads that stays in the back to make sure there are no "offs" etc...

If you are one that has never been on a North Bay Drive i would highly recommend it to all. It'll be the most fun you can have in your car (without getting laid.)

wow, i guess this place is dead today. I've been gone all day and thought maybe i would have some replies on here but no..... What the hell.

Did anyone watch the first part of the Dakar ralley on OLN tonight (saturday). I'm truelly happy to have caught it from the very first show, but they are sure paying A LOT of attention to the american teams and not the past winners and teams I miss the SPEED channel coverage.

Thumbs up

This is great; I have been waiting for another I-club drive for a long time. I’ve had to have fun on these same roads all by myself.

So as long as I’m not having surgery that week, I will be there. (That is if you will have me)

i like the idea of pacing

if we get as many cars as we usually do, i think we should have at least 2, maybe even 3 groups 1 minute apart.

perhaps make sure every group has a "leader" that is... someone who knows the route well enough not to get lost and can travel at the head of one of the groups

now, i do realize there are always people I love drivin with, for me its huck and pete and rich and jeremy, and I've noticed that every weekend drive we have about 2-4 designated stops where the whole group gets out of the car and takes a breather, be it at a gas station or big dirt turn out. Might I suggest at these stops we can switch up the groups if people wish to drive along with/behind someone new, but keep the 1 minute pace apart to help back up tail gaiting.

i know there's flaws with that, but its just a suggestion

Noel, i was just thinking about you and wondering if you were going to come out to play. I hope the back is OK. I've never known someone so young having to endure so much. My hats off to you my friend and we all would love to see you out there.
