You can see the hazing usually when viewing from an angle.
I used some Meguiars Plastix with good results. However if the problem is with the composition of the plastic used in the headlight itself, I believe Subaru should correct the problem. My 2003 has 10K miles and is always garaged.

The headlights on my 2000 Outback hazed up pretty bad. Especially at the top. Its my understanding that this will happen to all of them eventually. It is not a warranty item. I bought some plastic polish and a buffer wheel from Eastwood and buffed it all out. I guess you could always just buy some Morettes...

This isn't a problem unique to Subaru. Any set of plastic headlight covers will eventually haze due to UV and ozone exposure; plastic just doesn't have the durability or clarity of glass -- otherwise we'd all be using plastic windows in our houses. Next time you walk through a parking lot, take a look and you'll see hazing on many different cars in the 3-to5-year-old range.
I have also used PlastiX and it works amazingly well, and lasts quite some time.

I agree with meilers, there are quite a few cars I see besides Subaru's that the headlights are hazed. I see this alot with 96 - 00 Civics, I used to own a Civic and when I sold it the top portion of the headlight assembly was beginning to get hazed up. I had a detailer friend, buff and polish it and it looked 'like' new.

I guess I wouldn't be too surprised if I noticed the hazing after a few years. But I have only had this car for 1 year and 10K miles.
I believe it's an inherent problem with the Subaru I have. My wife's CR-V is about 2 years old (we've had it since new) and it has plastic headlights too, but doesn't have the hazing problem. Both cars are garaged and have the about the same amount of miles.
